I gotta fever and the only prescription is...

More cowbell?

Anyways, quite a nasty few days for my CPAP usage, results, and general well being.

Tuesday night as I mentioned in another post, I cleaned my hybrid before use and next morning had really bad numbers (and by really bad I mean like AHI of 70 or so!! higher than my normal), but I think that may have been caused by my starting to get very sick. All Wednesday I had an awful cough and it felt like breathing was difficult (doesnt help that I'm a smoker, but I didnt smoke that day as a result) and around 6pm I started to develop a fever which peaked at around 102.1 at 8:30pm so I dosed up on asprin and called it an early night. Not wanting to risk things with the hybrid I taped up and used my Swift II.

I didnt get very consistant sleep at all, but upon waking up this morning my fever had subsided, but my AHI was still like 31, but much like Tuesday night, it was mostly HI's not AI's that were a problem. I'm wondering if its just the cough/flem on lungs causing these HI events.

Any thoughts?

Thanks as always, everyone here has been amazing,

-Lee

An AHI of 70, don't you mean 7.0???

I just want to go back to sleep!

Quite likely that is the cause. You're just not inhaling or exhaling as strongly as your would if your chest is clear. Especially not exhaling as strongly since the CPAP pressure helps to inhale deeply enough.

The humidity from the humidifier should help to loosen up the phlegm so you can cough it up more easily and get your chest clear. Be sure to drink plenty of liquids, that also helps to loosen the phlegm so you can get it out.
