Use optilife straps with altered breeze?

Okay, a lab rat I am not! I do not feel confident about altering a mask, but I am desperate to get a good fit with the least amount of stuff on my face as possible.
I read through the posts where Dreamstalker modified his breeze. I have an optilife by Respironics, does anyone have that, and do you think I could use those straps to stabilize the breeze if I cut off the headgear?
I am going to get my husband to look at the diagram the Dreamstalker has in the post of how he altered the breeze, and see if he thinks he could do it.
Any advice?
