Buying masks on ebay

Post by cabhoney » Tue Jul 31, 2007 5:32 pm

Has anyone else besides me had a problem buying a mask on ebay but never receiving it? It happened to me recently and I am going thru all the right channels to try to resolve it, but it is very frustrating! I don't want to name names in public . . .

I haven't had any problems but i would also name names if there was one that was not resolved.

Just like everything else on ebay, there are good ebayers and bad (both in the buyer and seller categories). I've bought two masks on ebay, and have been very happy (and lucky) with the transactions. I was a little less satisfied with the clinician manual I purchased. It was a printed out PDF of the manual (the listing didn't specify this), and I had to wait almost two weeks from the purchase date to get it (payment cleared, then he sent it via media mail rather than emailing the PDF file).

Once you get your situation cleared up and you're sure it was a bad seller and not a misunderstanding, I think you should post the seller's ID here so none of us buy from that person.

I have both sold and purchased many items on eBay. You need to do your research on the seller before you purchase. If they have a lot of recent complaints... go in and read them. Then decide if you want to risk it. I also encourage you to post the problems you are having and the name of the seller in here so we can avoid them. Be very careful about giving the seller negative feedback on eBay itself and if you have to, make your comments in a factual way that just states the problem without emotions. Most of the time, if the seller is a jerk, they will expose their behavior and attitude and you won't look like some kind of a nut - they will. Plus there are creepy sellers who will damage your reputation with negative feedback full of lies and inuendo. Look for sellers with 100% positive feedback and lots of sales.

If you paid with PayPal, you have 45 days to report a problem and to get the ball rolling on getting a refund or your item. Just an FYI.

Did you pay for insurance? If a seller offers it, I buy it. If they don't offer it, I also will contact them to see if they will add it.

I just had a problem with two different sellers however they have both said they will resend new product. I'm just lucky that they have additional items. (One is a DVD of the '87 Masters tournament for my DH as a surprise Christmas present. He had recorded it way back then and his mom accidentally recorded over it with one of her soap operas.)

I bought a mask on ebay and replacement Swift II nasal pillows on ebay and have had great luck so far. I also tend to buy a lot of stuff on there, and always pick sellers that have 98 to 100 percent positive rating, and if it does turn out positive I will add my rating on there as well. I currently have a 100 percent rating as a buyer on there myself.

Anyway I have found it to be a good place for deals on masks and mask parts.

Can't resist taking the opportunity to mention that YOU DO NOT NEED TO BUY MANUALS EVER. That Ebayer selling manuals is a COS (crock of sXXX)!!!

Here is the link to all the manuals you need online:
http://www.cpap-supply.com/Articles.asp?ID=130

And if you can't find it here, someone on this forum will probably have it, scan it, and email it to you.

Cheers,
B.

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula. :)

Buying masks on ebay

Thank you for all the replies. I know all about looking at ratings, etc. This person is connected with a major cpap supply place, which I didn't know until I got my credit card bill. I was shocked! Now they have gotten several bad feedbacks about not sending people the merchandise they purchased.

PLEASE tell us who the "major cpap supply place" is, and who the vendor is. Please!!!!!! We've had enough forum members screwed on Ebay.

Thanks!
Barbara

Yes if someone really did mess you around on ebay you should not be shy about saying who they are, if not we all might end up victimized too.

I've bought 3 masks from 3 different people on ebay. So far, I've had good luck. If I had a problem, I wouldn't think twice before I came here and notified people. It is just WRONG to screw people over (especially when it comes to medical problems).

Oh, MAN! I WISH I had known this before last week... because I just sent that COS $6.50.
