Central Apnea and Adapt SV Titration

Post by DrowzyDave » Thu Aug 02, 2007 2:00 am

Hello all,

After having been on a bilevel ST machine for nine months for treatment of central apneas, I am scheduled to have a titration on the Adapt SV next week. Can any of the veteran Adapt users here tell me what to expect? Does it differ greatly from an ST titration? I have been asked to bring my mask which is a Fisher and Paykel 432 but from what I have read here, that mask won't pass the learning circuit. Are there any issues I should watch for or any particular questions to ask?

Thanks for your help.

Dave

I have been told that if a mask will pass the learning circuit, you can try using it.... but you have to be careful, because my ComfortGel passed the learning circuit, but felt like I was suffocating & not getting enough air. According to the owner's manual, most ResMed masks should pass the circuit.

As far as what to expect.... you'll probably get a halfway decent night's sleep! The Adapt "adapts" to YOUR breathing patterns, you don't adapt to it, which makes breathing SOOO much more natural. Its a much more sensitive and comfortable machine. I wouldn't give mine up for nothin'!!

I haven't had it yet. It is scheduled for Thursday. I will post an update.

Sherri,

I had the Adapt titration last night and it was amazing. I only woke up once for a potty break and slept solid the rest of the time. I have no idea what the numbers were but I slept great.

At home I ususally wake up three or four times a night. This is pretty amazing to me that I slept that much better in a strange bed with all of the wires hanging off of me.

It was nice not to have the machine "pushing" me around as my ST machine seems to do at times. The Adapt was much more comfortable to use. I am really looking forward to getting my machines swapped out.

Dave
