My visit from my Rt: my dog needs cpap

Post by Organplayer » Tue Jul 31, 2007 2:26 pm

My Rt did a follow up today and answered some quick questions and helped me with mask leakage, etc. I have a Boston terrier that sleeps more than me now and while the RT was there, she looked at him sleeping and heaving and said "My god, that dog needs cpap also".

Bostons have a short nose and often snort.

A little humor in pap land that only this group would appreciate.

Thanks for all the help,
Kevin

My Abby has it too

Post by Kaythu » Tue Jul 31, 2007 2:36 pm

My Abby has a 22 inch neck, snores like a buzz saw, twitches when she sleeps and drools.... I was wondering about OSA but the thought of a Newfoundland puppy with a mask/hose on was more than I could take. She's still trying to figure out why I keep laughing when I look at her.

My female Shar-Pei needs a CPAP too. Her snoring can be heard all the way across the house even if doors are closed

I have a Golden Retrever that I think could use one also. Like my Doc I have talked to his Vet and can't get him concerned about it.

I also have a cat that is diabetic and on insulin. Have you ever tried to do a blood suger test on a cat.

I was watching the sailfin in my 90 gallon reef tank and was wondering if she needs cpap, too. . . .

I have s Pekingese named Gruffy who also probably would qualify for a "doggie CPAP". He snores as much as my dad! One night I passed their roon on the way to the restroom and couldn't tell if the snoring was coming from dad or dog! He'll be sleeping and then all of a sudden do this snorting thing, turn over and go back to sleep. My mom is diagnosed with mild SA too. I think we need Mike Moran's whole house CPAP!!!

And we think WE have problems? Imagine the leak rate on a snout!

I think my avatar needs CPAP too. Actually, I chose it because that's how I would feel after a night on the Activa: All nose!

That made me laugh!!!!! I to have a Boston Terrier and I have often said that he needs cpap as much as I do. Maybe that is why he sleeps so much LoL. Even with that he seems to have a lot more energy than I do.
