Then turn the Humidaire 3i down to 2 or even to 1. Most of us do well on 1 or w/the Humidaire 3i turned off in the hot, humid summer and on the higher settings in the winter when the furnace dries the house air out quite a bit. Your mileage may vary. You just have to experiment to find what works for you.

The RT at my DME said always use distilled, but in an emergency bottled water can be used (not mineral water). I asked her about reverse osmosis filtered water and she said that was ok, too. I think I read it first on this board, though. Not regular filtered water, though.

I don't think my RT at the DME was very knowledgeable about CPAP treatment, but in that she comfirmed what I'd read on this forum, I figured she was right

About rainout: I nearly drowned my first night at home with the CPAP! There was water pouring into my nose through the Swift. Whoa! By the next night I'd insulated my hose with some polar fleece I had laying around wrapped up with velcro. I'd also ordered the heated hose, which completely fixed the problem once I got it.

Each water distiller can distill different amounts of water per day usually 8,12, or 40 gallons per day. The average time to distill one gallon of water is 3 hours. If you have any questions you can email me directly from my website:
