Problem with Resmed Liberty ?

Post by ZZZCPAPZZZ » Fri Jul 27, 2007 7:26 am

I have the Resmed Liberty and it appears to be a very good mask, but I am having a few problems. I have had it a little over a week and have noticed the following: On the nights the mask feel comfortable when I check the Encore software the next day the leak rate is about 75 l/min. The rate in the documentation for the mask at my pressure (16) says it should be 48 l/min, so obviously the leak is excessive. On the nights when the leak shows approximately normal (around 49 -51 l/min) I wake up several times and feel like I can’t breathe out of my nose. If I switch to my FP 431 FF mask this feeling goes away. BTW when the leak rate is high the software also shows my apnea events go up significantly (sometimes as high as an AHI of 7). My DME fitted me very carefully in several positions when I got the mask and all seemed well then. What am I doing wrong? I really want this mask to work, because in general it is much more comfortable than the other FF masks I have tried. HELP!

I only tried the liberty for one, miserable night and then got the Opus nasal pillows.

I think when they are fitting you they a)don't have any pressure going in at all, or b) have it set at a very low pressure.

The liberty was fine in the beginning of the night when my pressures are low, but about 2 hours into sleeping I woke up with terrible leaks. No matter how much I fiddled with it I couldn't get the leaks to stop. I finally took it off and slept without apap that night.

Now, my nose was stuffy last night and I took my nasal pillow off in the middle of the night, but when my nose is clear I get an excellent night's sleep with a leak rate of 0.04.
