He told you "...due to active litigation issues...". Only company lawyers are probably allowed to make comments that could have an affect on active litigation.Anonymous wrote: He is going to his parents this weekend so I will call him there and find out why the evasive action when I asked about personal use of the Encore software.
Asking for information about the litigation could be helpful. Are they being sued because a patient used the software or what?
I'm not a doctor, my highest degree is a Master's.
Being that they are a publicly held company, any litigation would have to be disclosed in their quarterly 10k I would think. If that was the case, I doubt it would be general knowledge of a typical employee.JimInAL wrote:He told you "...due to active litigation issues...". ...now back to writing prescriptions with my 1.8i
someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...
I know insurance can be a pain in the neck. I am going around in circles with the ENT I saw because my primary isnt in the same POD as the ENT, so she cannot make a referral.
That being said, there is very good news.. We aren't trapped by insurance companies or local DME's. We have online companies like where I work at cpap.com and other internet providers. The pricing is competitive and you get freedom of choice. We are all still free to choose. I don't have DME benefits on my insurance, so I just buy replacement parts and machines when I can. The prices have all come down from when I started 6 years ago. Here is a for instance. We/cpap.com sells a Probasics Zzz-PAP for $239 and $364 with heated humidifier. That is a fantastic little machine and very quiet. 6 years ago, you could not find a good standard cpap at that price anywhere.
As far as compliance goes, it is my understanding that maintanance drugs have about the same compliance as cpap therapy. The only difference is that you don't go down to the drug store and refill your meds if you aren't taking them. This saves the insurance company money.. With a rental cpap they get hit with a charge every month it sits in your closet.
It is my feeling that insurance is going to get so expensive for employers and employees that people will start carrying only disaster insurance that starts with a 2,000 or 3,000 deductible. Unless there are major reforms in how we do medicine in this country, we will all be heavily dipping into our pockets.
