Encore Pro: Linking laptop to desktop's SQL server...

I have Encore Pro v1.6 running on my desktop under WinXP. I managed to get Encore Pro v1.6 running on my Vista laptop by not installing the MS SQL Server that is incompatible with Vista.

Problem is, I can't seem to figure out how to get the Vista-Encore Pro to work with the XP-Encore Pro database.

The two computers are linked on a network. The XP-Encore server indicates that the name of the server is DESKTOP\ENCOREPRO. I tried to enter this name into the Vista-Encore program (Preferences-Database Server menu) but it says it can't connect.

The firewall is wideopen between these two computers.

I'm stumped....

I had the same problem, xp to xp though. I used the IP address of the databae server instead of the name & it worked. In my case:

10.10.10.106/ENCOREPRO
