Finally got my Dr. to order a study with an APAP. He's not really in favor of my purchasing one until we see the results. If my pressure remains pretty steady for most of the night he thinks I'll be wasting my money. However, if their is much fluctuation in my needs and the auto machine helps, he will order one for me.
The DME only has ResMed APAP units for rental use. I was able to read the stats this morning but not being very well versed on the subject I'm not sure what the results mean. My AHI is 11.1 which seems a little high from what I read here. By the way the machine is setup for 5/20 range.
Here are all the stats I could get for DAY:
HI: 7.9
AI: 3.2
AHI: 11.1
Leak: 0.42L/s
Press: 10.6
Usage: 8:19 hrs
I'm not sure what the press or usage numbers mean.
My CPAP, that I have used rather unsucessfully for a coulple of years, is set at 12. I should explain that most of the problems were related to the nasal interface, which seem to have been corrected with a FF mask....thanks to this site and not necessarily to the pressure.
A little help explaining what might be going on, and advice on any changes I should look at would be greatly appreciated.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!
To all of you that keep this site going.
Chet
Need advice on ResMed results.
Thanks, bigcat.bigcat wrote:One thing that has worked for me is to narrow the high and low pressure. My 95th pressure was consistantly close to 13, and max pressure never went above 17. So I changed my pressure to 11 and 18. My AHI is now in the 1.8-3.0 range.
I don't know yet how to adjust any settings, only figured out how to get the readings by dumb luck.
However, I did call the Drs. office today and told him the "EVIL DME" said I could only have the machine for 3 days. The Dr. called me back later and said they got things straightened out with the DME...now I can keep it for 3 weeks, which should give us enough time to figure out how well it is working. Now if I can learn to make adjutments I can show my Dr. the results and improvements that can be achieved by tweaking the pressure ranges.even without the DME's input...I'll be so happy when the DME is out of the picture .
