SQL Server Error - Any Suggestions?

Post by GeneS » Tue Jul 10, 2007 9:23 pm

My card reader and 1.8i worked two weeks ago. I tried to read my card a few days ago and the reader seemed to read the card ok then I got the following error.

Error Source
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL server Error 8000FFFF
Dalphan

I am running Windows 2000 sp4. We lost power the night before I tried to read the card and the computer was running at the time. I restarted the computer. The SQL server runs on startup.

I assume I corrupted the SQL Server Program or data file. The SQL Icon says it is running now. Has anyone had this problem. Do I need to uninstall and reinstall ENCORE PRO or is there another fix.

go to Microsoft Support, search the Knowledge Base for that error, can be many causes but most likely related to Vista or security settings:

someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

Even from the MicroSoft references, it would appear that the simplest fix would be to uninstall the Encore Pro software and reinstall it again. The software apparently uses SQL Server as its database engine to store your stats. The engine has failed to make the proper links and has generated this error notice. It's no reflection on what you have done. It's sometime caused by what I would like to refer to as a "misplaced electron" within your computer and/or software causing a zero to become a one and messing up the processing. You might want to save your data file(s) in another directory or folder and restore it/them after you reinstall.
