If I don't keep my humidifier setting at it's highest, I have terrible sinus problems. Could the pressure have anything to do with the fact that some of us do not have enough water to last the night and yet others do?? Just a thought. I always use the auto, and some nights average inhale pressure is 14 and other nights it may be 23 or 24. I don't mean to be badmouthing the "M". It's just that for me, the drawbacks outweigh the convenient features. And I hope that when I get my classic, my problems will be solved. As I said earlier, I really like some of the M features.
Blarg, what is your average IPAP pressure? I think you are the other person that I remember having trouble with the amount of water in the humidifer.
M series Vote Yes or No
M Series
I have been extremely disappointed with my new M series. My HMO provided an M Series Basic. In every other way I like it, but the NOISE is driving me crazy. It makes a soft moaning/snoring sound as you exhale. I took the first one back after the first night. The supplier exchanged it with no problem, but the one that replaced it was worse than the first. I'll go back to my old one before I use this model again.
Noise....
I traded in my ResMed S8 Escape for a RemStar M series Auto with C-Flex.
The ResMed was Super quiet but no features for data...the M series has AHI and pressure but it is noisy.....I constantly hear the noise of the machine pumping up for inhale and slowing down for exhale......
It is not good for people with sleep problems.

I have a 12vdc cpap ion lithium battery pack that has worked very well with a RemStar Auto with C-flex machine. I have gotten 9 - 10 hours use from a single charge with the highest pressure set at 10.
I really like being able to use the battery. It works great when the electricity goes off once in a while, or occasionally, we've gone with my sister and brother-in-law in their RV. You're right - we don't run the generator all night either.
I did see that on the website it lists the RemStar Auto with C-flex machine and the M series BiPap Auto with Biflex as machines that you can select to calculate the usage times from using the 12vdc cpap ion lithium battery pack at a set pressure. It seems if it will run the RemStar Auto with C-flex that it should also work with the "classic" BiPap Auto with Biflex. Can you explain why the "classic" needs 24vdc and also is there a battery that can be used with it? I do have the RemStar Auto with C-flex that I could still use with my battery that I already have, but it sure would be nice to be able to use it with the BiPap that I'm sure I'll want to use much more that the old machine.

M Series?
My only experience is with the M series BiPap Auto with Biflex and it seems that I got lucky. Mine is very quiet and I really like the feature that gives me 30 minutes to get to sleep prior to full (20) pressure. Also the relief on exhale is very helpful. I do have to refill the humidifier tank everyday. Regards

I own a Respironics RemStar classic APAP and a RemStar classic Auto-BiPAP. I prefer the classic Auto-BiPAP over the APAP due to greater comfort and better results. I like the APAP as a backup and travel machine, because it uses 12V DC rather than 24V.
I prefer the classic tanks because they are tried and true, they are either quieter or emit a lower frequency noise, have more room for sound insulation, have a greater humidifier capacity, are easier to refill, and are not really that much larger or heavier than the M Series. I'd like the M's LED AHI read-out, but I download daily, so that's not a big deal for me.
I used a Resmed Auto (Autoset Spirit?) from a local DME vendor, who I later discharged with no cost to me, for the first week. I had an AHI of 8.8 (compared with 89 at titration and 0.6 for the last 6 months), but honestly, that early on, my compliance and maskcraft was so poor I'm not sure I could compare the Resmed and Respironics algorithms, but I did not like how difficult the Resmed humidifier was to clean, and the thing looked to me like a new Nike tennis shoe, or something you'd see at a carnival. But that's just me, and I'm a basic-black sort of person.
I'm pretty sure that I could not do much better than my six-month AHI of 0.6 with any non-Respironics machine. If I thought I could, I'd buy it, even if it looked like a tennis shoe, and was manufactured by a company whose business practices I do not prefer.
If you can do so, I'd suggest you try an Auto from both Res* companies, and maybe the Puritan Bennett. That may hard to pull off in practice, unless you use a DME vendor (which I have not had after the first week), or have deep pockets. Frankly, if you can find a DME who (1) carries multiple lines, (2) will let you trial multiple machines, and (3) will then let you out of any obligations, I'd use them and then decide if their pricing structure was better than you can get online, but good luck with all that coming together. I don't usually treat local merchants like that, but it is your health at stake, and I'll spare you another DME rant, since they are easy to find.
