How do i change pressure setting on APAP

Post by yosemitelor » Fri Jul 06, 2007 1:06 am

Hi

I have been on APAP now for about 6 weeks. I have an M Series Auto Pap with A-flex. In my sleep study they only got me down to an AHI of 14 at a pressure of 12. I insisted on getting an APAP and after major fights with a couple DME's they finally did fill the prescription as my doc wrote it and they set the pressure from 6-16. I have found putting lavender oil near the inlet helped reduce my AHI but I still show an AHI of between 7.8 and 9 each night. I want to try and get this lower. My 90 percent pressure is often 16 and never below 14, so i want to try uping the setting to see if I can get my AHI lower. I know i have seen info on here on how to do this before, but i didnt find it when i did a search so would appreciate someone responding to me on this post. THANKS!!

P.S. - first 3 weeks were on M series auto with C-flex. I now have the A-flex machine and i find it more comfortable and quieter.

if you are still having trouble falling asleep with the machine, I suggest you LEAVE your pressure range where it is for "comfort".

Higher pressure=more noise, greater leaks and less overall comfort.

If you want to lower you AHI you have to increase the Auto:Min pressure from current 6cm up to like 9cm. Then you range becomes 9cm to 16cm. You then compare your AHI you get from the new setting over say a week.

To reset your LCD data:

Unplug the machine, hold DOWN the <- -> arrow keys at the same time while plugging in the power. Machine will beep. Press the -> right arrow and navigate to the Therapy screen, press the (-) negative button for 5 seconds, it will reset your LCD data back to zero. Then you can compare the AHI to you current average.

Press the On/Off button to exit setup mode.

someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...
