Matter of perspective...

Post by Dave2you » Sun Jul 01, 2007 5:23 pm

Not sure if anyone has noticed this but..

I have been feeling crappy for years upon years, tired, depressed, sleepy, no energy, If I wasn't working I was usually napping or watching tv, outside stuff was too much work. I spent all my time on computers and low energy hobbies.

then bam, CPAP comes along and wow an I zipped up, I have energy I never had before, in surplus. I start doing all kinds of physical things in the yard, and you never catch me napping anymore. I am always doing stuff now, and computers are kept as a end of day entertainment, usually under an hour.

so I think, so this is how it is for everyone else. But you wouldn't know it, I have lots more energy it seems than my family and more positive, when they are pooped I still have bang to go. IE, we went on a long road trip, when we got back they were wiped, I was just getting started, while they took a nap I mowed the lawn and weeded the garden, they woke up to me getting supper ready.

My Point..

I think because I have had no energy for so long, I know how valuable it is, and now that I am getting some I intend to use it. Where as they have had energy all this time, but are so used to it, that its not big deal. actually probably just slightly tired is physically draining to them, to me sightly tired doesn't phase me, I have been running on borderline exhaustion for ten years.

LOL

Its all a matter of perspective..

Thanks for that! It gives me hope! Tonight will be night 3 of CPAP for me, and I hope to notice the difference like that soon as well!

Dave-
My sentiments exactly.
I'm even handling the hot weather better than in the past.
My husband laughs about it now - before April, if he came home from work and wanted to start doing chores, I'd ask him to stop. I was even too tired to watch someone ELSE work!

What's normal

Post by geoDoug » Sun Jul 01, 2007 5:56 pm

Thanks for the story. It underscores how relative "normal" is. How many of us here for decades thought that it was normal to be tired during the day?

Doug.

For sure! I have been all night compliant for about 2 weeks and this AMAZING ENERGY started kicking in about two or three days ago. I just can't seem to stop moving. Sitting in a chair seems like torture when all I want to do is do something physical. I have gotten some amazing yardwork done in the last few days.

Yesterday I moved about 10 wheelbarrells full of 7 ft tall thistles to the compost pile after cutting them down. THEN I mowed the lawn. THEN I watered the garden. Then, shower etc and I was ready for a whole new set of fun challenges.

Before I might have done one of those things and then needed to sit in a chair for the rest of the day (or two) to recover.

People take life for granted, I'm so GRATEFUL to have mine back!

Jill, hang in there. It gets WAY WORSE before it gets better. Took me about 5 weeks before I got the sudden burst of energy. AND, it's been cumulative since then. As in, the sudden burst was followed by a slow accumulation of energy.

I'm not SuperWoman yet, but I'm getting there.

Planning on spending my Fourth of July weeding the yard. First summer in 4 years that I've done that.

Good luck to all!
B.
