Encore Pro 1.7i vs 1.6 or 1.8

Post by Russ0508 » Wed Jun 20, 2007 5:55 pm

What is the difference? I always hear people talking about 1.6 and 1.8 but no one ever mentions 1.7. I found Encore Pro 1.7 for cheap, but I wanted to make sure it does everthing the other versions do.

They are versions of Encore Pro Software, the higher the number the later the version. Version 1.8I is the latest, and it's the only one that works with Microsoft Vista. Each update supports more of the growing product line.

The special XPAPS need the higher version for support. The versions are backward compatiable, as long as the newer version isn't needed to support a special machine. Jim

All three versions work with the "M"agic Pro, but none fix the missing data day problem 100%. Still the software is needed for the best treatment.

Is *anyone* still selling the 1.8 software? I can't find it anywhere (though I couldn't pay $200 in the first place). I just got the APAP and the card reader a few days ago.

Roubai, not sure if 1.8 is still being sold, but you don't need it unless you have Vista. Do you have Vista on your computer?

1.8 might also be required for the new A-Flex machines.

Someone may have already addressed this, but if so, I missed it. For those of us with the M-series paps, is there still missing data with the 1.8 version?

No, I don't have Vista and I have no plans to get it, but I do have one of the M series A-flex machines, which I read elsewhere require 1.8 ... ?

I have an unopened/new copy of version 1.6. When I bought my reader, it came with this software but then I bought 1.8 separately. I'm willing to sell it to someone, so please IM me if interested. Thx.

I am not so convinced that the "missing data" is from the software. I never have missing data or "no data found" if I leave the card in the machine for 15+ minutes after turning it off and getting out of bed. I think it is how the software handles the data but it seems to be that if data is not completely written out or interrupted by removing the card, you will get an error.

Others also state that once you get the "no data found" that you will get it for two days. I only got it once and not a second day. YMMV.

I never check mine until night usually just before going to bed. So card always stays in more than 15 minutes and I have missing data numerous, numerous and more numerous times. Glad you are not having much trouble. But that doesn't solve my problem with it. And yes, borzoi and Abi. They are Ruby and Mohawk, 2 of my "grandchildren", better known as Rue and Moe. Rue is 3 and Moe is 13. This is the 4th borsi that Moe has "trained" and he really loves her. Thanks!

Josie, Your pictures are gorgeous. You could do a Borzoi calendar.

I'm running an experiment of sorts on this as well, to see if it is the time you take the card out, or a glitch with the machine or software. Here's the thread I started a couple days ago about this problem.

I have read wher the problem isn't corrected by 1.8i, probably because it's not a software problem. Jim

There may be a cure for missing data. Leave the card in the machine for 15 mins after switching the blower off.
