Trial Participants needed: PAD A CHEEK OptLife WINGS only

Post by Pad A Cheek » Tue Jun 12, 2007 4:27 pm

Hello Once again it is a PAD A CHEEK Trial for a new design.

All who want to try the PAD A CHEEK OptiLife Wings to pad the little projections on the optiLife mask By Respironics, please send me a PM with your address. I will send a free pair of the new item to test to the first 12 people that respond.

Your obligation is to give them a fair test then report the "good", and "improvements needed" comments to this forum. With the help of folks who actually try them, I am able to perfect a product to help others.
PM early, because when they are gone, they are gone.

Thanks for your testing help.

Hi pada!

I have the Optilife Mask and would like to try out anything you have that would fit it. The straps that are across my face leave marks. I've been padding the nose piece with moleskin which keeps my upper lip from sweating and getting sores.

I love what you are doing for us and want to support your efforts.

Thanks!

I want to thank those of you who volunteered to Participate in the trial of the PAD A CHEEK OptiLife Wing product. I have my 12 participants now signed up.

I am putting them in the mail today and I have a wide range of places these are going. I feel the test will be a good one.

Watch for more tests for new PAD A CHEEK products here in the coming weeks.

I appreciate your help.

Review of OptiLife Wing pads

Post by robbieh » Sun Jun 17, 2007 11:54 am

I got my padacheeks set 2 days ago. The written instructions and pictures made them easy to install on my head gear. I've used them for 2 nights now and am very pleased. Not only do they make my head gear more comfortable, I am no longer sporting the marks on my face for hours in the morning. The wing pads keep the wings from digging into my cheeks when I lay on my side or stomach.

The thing I like best is that the wing pads also help fit my mask more securely to my face. I have a small face and nose making fit a little difficult. Since installing the pads, I've had significantly lower air leaks both nights. The leak rates came down from 5.9 to 4.5 the first night and to 4.1 last night. My AHI rates also came down. 3 nights ago it was the highest since starting cpap at 6.6. After installing the padacheeks, my AHI came down to 3.6 the first night and last night it was 2.3! The comfort level improved so much, I also had to reach up in the night to make sure I was still wearing my mask. The price of the padacheeks is well worth the benefits. Did I mention how stylish they are?

Shipping was fast, price is right and the quality of the work is excellent. Thanks Karen for making life with a machine much more pleasant!

Good report robbie, thanks. I'm anxious to get some once I settle on a mask.

Okie dokie... I'm ready to post my feedback.

Received the product late last week. I've been using CPAP for 3 months now and really haven't had too many complaints or issues with the OptiLife mask. But I thought I'd help out and give these a try. Ok, so I'll be honest. When I first opened the package, I was underwhelmed. I'm really not familiar with this product, so I really didn't know what to expect. But opening the envelope, I saw two small folded pieces of fleece. I thought "big deal" and didn't put them on right away.

During my weekend cleaning of headear, I took advantage and put them on. Putting them on was fairly straightforward and simple. The instructions are photos of steps. After I got them on the mask, the whole thing made a LOT more sense. And then I thought they were rather clever.

Having now used them on the OptiLife over night, I can say I do rather like them. It's funny how such a small simple thing can make a nice difference. I still woke up with marks on my face from the part of the wings that are not covered, however... The marks were much lighter and went away pretty quick. The pads also do help the mask fit better. The mask seems more comfortable and more sturdy and stable.

I really don't have any upgrades. These seem to be a nice improvement to a nice mask. I think I will continue using them.

I also got a set of the wing pads to test.
The photo instructions were wonderful. They made the installation of the pads very easy.
I have used the new PACs for 4 nights now and NO MARKS!! I already had the strap PACs on the mask but the wings would leave 'dig' marks on my cheeks(I sleep on my side and tummy). The new wing padacheeks solved that problem. Although they are small, they stay in place and work perfectly.
Thanks so much Karen, for all your hard work and your fabulous ideas!

Brenda

PS For washing PACs; I just put them all in a zippered mesh laundry bag(to keep them all together) and throw them in the washer. I usually hang mine to dry but for added puffiness throw the whole bag right into the dryer.
