Oh what a night....

Post by dieselgal » Thu Jun 14, 2007 11:25 am

I say that in the very non-romantic way. I had one of the worse nights in a long time. We went to bed about 30 minutes later than usual and I was able to fall asleep fast but about an hour after I went to sleep I woke up and wasn't really sure why. I almost felt like I was having a panic attack but my heart wasn't really racing. I just felt keyed up. After a couple of minutes I noticed that I seemed to be fighting the machine. Like it was forcing me to breathe to fast and deep. I wasn't relaxing and just breathing natural. I got up a couple of times and finally ended up falling back to sleep but I was awake for well over an hour. I do know that last night I couldn't seem to keep my mask leaks under control. Every time I turned over I would find that I had a leak somewhere or that I kept pushing my lips out to keep it from leaking under the nose! Usually my mask is pretty comfortable. Maybe I need to give it a good cleaning.
Anyway for those that don't know me I have EPR so I don't HAVE to fight my machine I just did for some weird reason and after 3 1/2 months I thought I had it figured out.
I have some new software for the machine so this weekend I plan on trying it out and I hope you guys can help me decipher it.

Don't it figure? Just as you think you've got this CPAP bit under wraps and down pat ... you get a night like last night. Sheesh!

Must be something in the air.
I've had difficulty at the beginning of sleep the last two nights, breathing seems out of sync with the machine.
I shall be patient.
And will go take a nap.

OK, I'm starting to get superstitious now. Last night I put on my CL2 that it has only taken me 3 1/2 months to feel a teeny weeny bit like it might possibly actually belong on my head, and bingo... Once again it felt like an alien from outer space here to suck the lifeforce from me. And that darn forehead piece -- I swear it grew to twice its normal size and was attempting to crush my head like an eggshell.

I gave up, took it off and fell asleep. Woke up at 2:30, put it on, and once again it was just a normal CL2. I suppose that was because it was after midnight and was no longer the 13th of the month.
