Half Hybrid and feel bad

Post by roster » Thu Jun 14, 2007 5:49 am

The dry mouth has been so bad lately that I taped my mouth last night and used the Hybrid like a nasal mask. Just as it usually does, the mask seemed to seal well.

I slept about seven hours and woke up this morning with no dry mouth but I am feeling really bad. Any hypotheses as to why I would not get good therapy using only the nasal passage?

Hey Rooster,

I've been going through the same thing lately. The dry mouth is so bad in the am, that I've been taping while wearing my F & P 431 FF mask! My husband thinks I'm nuts but it has helped with the dry mouth but I am tired as well. I wonder if I'll ever get it right! UGH!

The only reason I can think of is that you are getting insufficient air through the nasal passages only. One of the reasons I am trying to get the Hybrid to work for me is that sometimes I think I mouth breathe to try to get more oxygen.

Just a thought.

Dumb question... but is it possible your getting a stuffy nose sometime during the night and need to breathe through your mouth? It would explain dry mouth and bad night after taping.

That happens to me (dry mouth) with every full face and i have 5 right now.
The problem with the Hybrid is the same as all Ff masks that they use up so much humidity that turing up the humidity higher can tead to running out before morning.
I solved it a bit by heeping wayer beside my bed and taking a few swigs before putting my mask on. In other words, keeping your mouth moist as long as you can. Also a humidifier in your room will help. Even in the AC for the summer. You need to mouthbreath every nows and then. It's only natural.
If you can turn your machine up without running dry, by all means, do.
