I'm coming up on a couple months now and everything seems to be working out--getting better sleep (even if not enough hours of it) and my numbers are, in the words of my sleep physician, "outstanding" (the last four weeks none of my nightly numbers were over 0.9).
Last night I had the first really bad experience. Couldn't get comfortable, experienced way more leaks around the OptiLife pillows, tossed and turned and fiddled with straps and just...couldn't...sleep. Finally ripped the thing off around 2am and just tried to sleep the rest of the night. Of course today I'm foggy and groggy and am going to have a tough time focusing at work all day.
I know there will be nights like that but it's disheartening. Not planning to abandon it for one bad evening, but with two business trips in two weeks and a belt test coming up and a frantically busy summer ahead, I was sort of hoping that the mythical "light switch" moment would have happened by now and I'd be miraculously awake for them.
Still, as they say at the dojo, gambatte. Persevere. I'll strap it back on tonight and hope for better.

Scott, night like that happen. I've been a hosehead for over 2 years now and there are still the occasional nights that my mask, machine and I fight. Hang in there! It sounds like you've got the right attitude. That's over half the battle.

This therapy WORKS!!!
Scott I don't know if you have an optional backup mask but when you have a really bad night like that with your favorite mask it sometimes helps to try another mask. I would suggest a lightweight nasal mask without pillows as your backup in case it is just the pillows that happen to be bothering you on that particular night.
