Just switched from F&P 432 (I am between Med and Large, and cannot get a good seal, especially after 8 mos of use) to Resmed Ultra Mirage Full Face Mask, it seals great, and is very comfortable with no nose bridge problems.
Now I wake up with the worst dry mouth ever.
I have played with my humidification at 4, but this empties my reservoir early in the morning, so I get a couple of hours without water which dries me out. If I set at 2-3, it isn't enough and I am dry all night.
Anyone else experienced this?
I think it is due to the UMFF keeping the mouth open wider than other masks?
Resmed UMFF Dryness?
I too have that problem.
I don't use the FF often, just when the allergies get really bad. With my M-Series, and the FF mask, I run the HH at 5 (max). After about 8 hours, there is usually a little water left.
My theory on why the FF drys my mouth out is that the air inlet literally blows the air right into the mouth (the hose inlet lines up with the mouth rather than above the nose or something.) The air blows into the mouth circulates out and vents out the top of the mask. (obviously you breath a small portion of this air.)
I've been tempted to rig some form of deflector on the air inlet that will blow the air more towards the sides of the mask than directly into the mouth, but I haven't tried it yet. Like I said, I don't use the mask often. hope that makes sense, if not, let me know and I'll come up with some form of diagram.
Anybody else out there have any other ideas?

Make sure your nasal passages are as clear as possible before going to bed and then try to keep your mouth(s) shut.
Nasal stuffiness contributes to mouth-breathing and opening one's mouth, even in a full face mask, will make it dry. Try to keep your tongue to the roof of your mouth......pretend you're sucking on a lemon drop.
I don't run any heat in my humidifier, at all (any time of the year) and seldom have a dryness issue.

Unfortunately for me, I have pretty bad seasonal allergies. Usually, if my nose is clear, I'll strap on my nasal mask (Activa currently) and I don't have any problems with mouth breathing.
Some days my allergies decide clear nasal passages aren't going to happen. (Usually on days I mow the lawn) It's those days I use the UMFF mask. I figure mouth breathing with a full face mask is better than not using a mask at all. At least I'm still getting the presssure.

I don't have any solution for you but I experience the same issue. However, the issue is sporadic. One night I will use up my entire resevior and the next it won't hardly use any. Same goes for the dry mouth. One night horrible the next no problem. I haven't figured out a correlation yet. Only been on for 2 months. Good luck! I look forward to reading other responses.
