I've had my Auto BiPAP for over a month now, and it continues to exhibit an annoying behavior very consistently. I've been very sure to minimize leaks as I know that is a potential problem. In a nutshell, here is the problem.
1. The machine starts up normally and will run for 2 to 3 minutes with normal IPAP/EPAP triggering.
2. Then it will stop approximately 1 second into an inspiration, then go into an oscillation between IPAP and EPAP with cycle time of about 2 seconds, and this will happen for anywhere from 1 to 3 cycles.
3. Then the machine goes back to "normal" triggering for anywhere from a few minutes to around 10 minutes, then will do the oscillation again.
4. If I breath very shallowly, the tendency is minimized, but will still occur if I take deeper breaths.
5. If I shrink the PS gap to 3 or less, it is much less noticeable, but that is just because the pressures are so close. I normally run a pressure of 10/5, which I used in the past with an older Respironics Quest BiLevel machine that did not exhibit this oscillation.
Am I missing something really obvious. like a leaky hose or something? Is this a sign of something, either software or hardware, that is out of kilter?
Thanks,
Peace

Return to DME
I'm working on that angle as well, but wanted to see if anyone else had experienced a similar problem.
It does seem to be an out-of-box defect. I wonder if there is some way to find out if the machine was refurbished.
Peace

You could probably call/e-mail Respironics and give them the serial number and find out when it was made (and maybe where it's been).
There's also the "blower hours" that are displayed in "Setup mode". They can't be zeroed out without being sent back to the factory (motherboard replacement).
