Resperonics Remstar Plus; humidifier heater issues

Post by Eaglesup » Fri Nov 26, 2004 6:58 pm

I have a Remstar Plus and really like it other than this one problem:
The heater under the humidfier quits while I'm sleeping - just occasionaly.
Very, very annoying - espsecially this time of year in my part of the country, the temperature drops way down at night, and if the heater quits, I wake up with chilled sinuses & nose! I have enough issues with allergies & asthma & other resperatory conditions that I don't need surprises like this.
I returned it to my supplier once, it came back and I used it for a few weeks and it waas up to its old tricks again. Sometimes it goes for months without a hiccup, then suddenly it does not want to cooperate at all...
Anyone else out there have these issues? - Frozen-beaked eagle!

Are you using a mask or pillows such as nasalaire? Try your machine with a mask and see if you get the same effect.

I found that even in the summer that the air coming out of the nasalaire was cold when using a heated humidifier.

I now have the Australian heated hose and the air exiting the mask is a bit warmer.

Thanks. I have tried the nose pillow types twicw - it's a great idea - a lot less area to try and keep sealed, no strangling head gear, etc. However, you're right, the air coming out of them was so "focused" that it either dried or chilled my nasal & sinus passages to the point I couldn't deal with it.
So, I have two masks, a full-face Resporonics for the times when my allergies screw up my sinus so badly I cannot use my primary one, a nasal mask with a head gear.

A heated hose - where would I get such a thing?

Guest, if you click this link:

viewtopic.php?t=389

That will get you out of this "Introductions" section and take you to the main message board of this website - to the topic:
"First night - condensation problem" (topic started by Spiritus). In one of the posts there is a link to the online store that carries the heated hose. The heated hose used with a heated humidifier does wonders. Turning the heat up on a humidifier often leads to "rainout" when the warm moist air has to travel so far through a cold plastic hose. The heated hose does just what it says - keeps the hose itself warm so the air can stay warmer on the long trip from machine to mask. I love it!!

As Yoga mentioned, it might keep your beak warmer too, Eagles.

Mine does not work at all. The problem is a burn leg that run the heater. I open the machine and found the problem. I do not know where to get the part to fix it.
