crappy night

Post by catbirdgirl » Wed May 16, 2007 6:08 am

and I don't know why

I felt like I was fighting for air half the night. at least 2x woke up for bathroom or took mask off....

it feels like it never got to full pressure. or something. all I know is I'm tired and achy this morning and that stinks. I looked at it to see if anything was different from the night before and nothing was.

I have a meeting with a personal trainer this morning and I was hoping to feel good for that. dang.

any suggestions, or does this just happen?

Everybody has a bad night from time to time. I had MOSTLY bad nights when I started 8 months ago. It slowly got better so that now it is mostly good nights. Last night I only remember waking one time around 4:30 and got up at 6 pretty refreshed. Two days ago I woke up groggy and stayed that way all day. Just chalk it up to one bad night and keep on moving forward. It gets very much better with time.

Last night I had a bad night as well. Couldn't get the mask right, it had leaks. I woke up a few times to go to the washroom.(my fault I was drinking pop all day) and I had water in the hose that made a strange sound when I would exhale.

Finally drained the water out but still couldn't get the mask right so I took it off and slept. I will just chalk that up to a bad night and try again tonight.

From the software it seems that my AHI was below 5 most of the times, but still I felt tired during the day..it's almost a month now I'm using REMstar Auto C-Flex CPAP Machine.. not much progress there..wonder why?

Thanks!

Need more information.
Since you have the software, some things should be apparent.....Leakage (including mouth....you have a nasal mask), pressure range not optimal for the events, number of events at which pressures, number of hours slept, etc., etc.

(5) REMstar Autos w/C-Flex & (6) REMstar Pro 2 CPAPs w/C-Flex - Pressure Setting = 14 cm.
"Passover" Humidification - ResMed Ultra Mirage FF - Encore Pro w/Card Reader & MyEncore software - Chiroflow pillow

I have been having problems the past few days. I just logged this to sleep cycle changes due to moon phase changes. I needed to take sleep meds last night just to get my body to relax some. Might need it tonight also as this is night for the new moon.

From what I see, your mask leakage is quite high for that mask and the typical (90%) pressures your showing. That would tell me you're mouth-leaking. For a pressure of 11 with that mask, it should be about 26.7.

http://www.internetage.com/cpapinfo/leak-rates-1.html

You need to fix your leakage first and maybe bring your bottom pressure up to maybe 10. I would also limit the top pressure a bit more, too.

A little more sleep would help, too.
