Anyone know about Resmed Autoset Spirit Smart Data?

Post by pat07011 » Tue May 15, 2007 6:33 pm

Just got the Resmed Autoset Spirit, but it seems to only display compliance and serial #. Is there a way to display the important stuff like leaks and apneas or does that have to be set up by the technician?

Not sure about the Spirit, but on other Resmed machines if you press and hold both the "right" and "left" buttons for about 3 seconds, you will be able to get into the "Efficacy Menu". Hope this helps.

Help? Knightfall, you hit the nail on the head. Thank you so much. I was going crazy trying to figure out how to display it. I would have been up all night trying to figure it out. Now I could sleep...maybe.

You've probably already noticed that you can check your mask fitting by holding the "on" button down.

Thanks for that info Moby (di). When I tried it, it displayed "good" and I had it quite tight and there were no leaks. What does it take to get an "excellent" reading?

I use a Swift. Just jiggled with it and used some KY.

Really Moby? Well, thanks for that tip, too. I'm going to be doing some serious jiggling tonight.

Its quite possible you had your mask fitted too tight. I get Excellent quite easily w/my Simplicity mask.

The air blowing in helps to fill the mask and form the seal. If you have your fit too tight the mask can't fill w/enough air to attain a really good seal.

Oh, maybe that's it, Slinky. I'll have to loosen it a bit and see what happens. Another thing is that my machine is set to Resmed full face mask and I was using Fisher Paykal nasal mask. Maybe that has something to do with it, too. What do you think?

I have the Resmed S8 Elite and used the Fisher & Paykel HC 407 for several months. I used both the Standard mask selection and .... I forget the other setting, a setting for a Resmed nasal mask anyway.

However, I was also having a lot of problems w/leaks w/that 407 as it was a shade too long from bridge of nose to bottom of nose. Of course, my then DME would "never" have volunteered that there was an HC 406 which is a Petite and "might" have fit me!!!

I'm now using my Resemed S8 Elite with a Respironics Simplicity Petite simple nasal cushion with the Standard mask selection on my Elite and my leak rate is GREATLY reduced, almost to acceptable levels. My problem w/the Simplicity is one strap is too long and can't be adjusted short enough until I decide how to take the scissors to it: whether to create new slits or to try splicing and using velcro strips at the splice.

My pressure is only 8 cms and that can sometimes cause problems because it isn't "enough" air pressure to inflate some of these masks enough to really provide a good seal.
