What do you think of CL2's noise? Is it quieter than Aura?
i have to say, after a couple of months on the CL2, i found the twilight NP (aura) very noisy on the inhale...the CL2 is almost completely silent; sometimes i wake up in the night and wonder if it's still running!

i'm new to the twilight NP, so just trying to get used to it, but i do find the CL2 to be extremely comfy

I honestly don't remember where the idea for Benzoin came from. I think someone said something in passing and I just gave it a try and it works wonderfully - much much better than the marine glue or bag balm that I had tried otherwise.

Someone else mentioned kicking it out of place with the pillow and that was what was happening to me prior to the Benzoin. Now when it kicks the attachment to the nostrils don't move except under the most intense situations.

Took me awhile to figure out just where to put it. DO clean off residue from the mask each night (easy to do) before you put it on so that the new stuff adheres well and make sure it's dry before you put on the mask (dries very quickly).

Have fun.

some more info on benzoin tincture (first safety watch out is interesting!!!)
Is it CYA safety mambo jumbo, or is there some truth to any of this???

Important safety information:

Avoid getting Benzoin Tincture in your eyes or nose.

Do NOT exceed the recommended dose or use Benzoin Tincture for more than 7 days without checking with your doctor.

Benzoin Tincture may be harmful if swallowed. Do not swallow Benzoin Tincture. If you accidentally swallow Benzoin Tincture seek medical attention or contact a poison control center immediately.

Benzoin Tincture is flammable. Keep it away from sparks, heat, and flames.

Yet, I am very tempted to try it out...
Q: is the mask OK after daily contact with an alcoholic solution?

Thanks for the tip

Hey folks - ease up a bit. This stuff is added to a vaporizer to help with croup.

The mask is fine (using for many months). I'm in better shape because I'm sleeping wonderfully well.

I put this stuff on with a q-tip (hard to get a lethal dose with a q-tip!) and the alcohol dries long before the mask goes on.

Sorry for raising concerns... Nothing personal, just acknowledging that info on this site is often not from "doctors", and we all have a responsibility to look out for each others, and to bring forward info as we have it. This is the beauty of a forum like this one...

Benzoin just did not sound like a very friendly chemical to me... Things that are OK in small doses for short periods of time may not be that good used on a daily basis, for months/years at a time, especially in areas where mucous membranes can make it easy to go into the body... (like in the nose).
I am not a doctor, so I get my info like everybody else, on the web! And I believe information is key... Quote in my previous posting was from Drug.com (drug information on line)

This being said, I also looked at a few MSDS's (material safety data sheet) and the long term and acute toxicity for benzoin is very mild and may include dermatitis... (http://www.cumberlandswan.com/bentinc.pdf)

So, as stated in my previous posting, I may still use it, if my new, larger, nasal pillows (expected in a few days, yeah!) still leak or do not stay in place as I toss and turn...

Again, thank you for info.

Also the head piece in the front rubs my thin hair and tends to break it off and I can't spare any!
Mine arrived yesterday, and I am disappointed, too. The attachment on the top was so hard that it pulls and dispositions the mask and creates leaks whenever I turned to sleep on my side. When I sleep on my back, it is OK, but this mask seems not condusive to side-sleeping. And it makes wearing a chin-strap very hard, too.

While the Twilight NP (deconstructed) is my favorite, I did like the ComfortLite 2 also. But I would not have liked the CL2 if I'd had to sleep with that clunky swivel elbow on top.

mild6 and dieselgal, perhaps you might want to remove the swivel elbow to the connector hose on top. Sure made a much more comfy difference for me -- and a few other people.

Pictures and description of how I removed the connector elbow are near the top of the threads in that link. You'll find other methods of tweaking the CL2 in topics at that link, too.

Also, if you haven't done this already, you might want to hang the main air hose overhead so the weight of the hose doesn't tug on any mask:

I've never tried tincture of benzoin, but lanolin does help my CL 2 direct seal to work by being just the slightest bit thick and sticky. It seals those pesky microleaks.

I am a restless side sleeper, and I have had no problem with the CL 2 EVER since I started using the pantyhose straps (actually made from tights) that Rested Gal created. It does not dislodge for me.

I definitely prefer the swivel elbow so that the hose goes to the side, and over the bed post or slightly wedged between the headboard and mattress, depending in which of my locations I am sleeping. I do not like having the hose suspended over my head or from a hose hanger--but that is just my preference.

My only real problem with the CL 2, besides that the nasal pillows did not work for me nor did the Simple Seal, is that my nares are two different sizes. So, that means that I have to expand one a bit more than the other in order for the Direct Seal to work.

And, I use a hose cozy, a wonderful tube cozy made by Pad-a-Cheek's Karen (aka padacheek), and a pantyhose strap with the CPAP machine on the floor. This pretty well avoids rainout, although I sometimes have some droplets in the Direct Seal.

Best wishes to all of us in our endeavor to make treatment and compliance work!

Karen

This mask is my all time absolute favorite. I only sleep on my right side. I have the hose draped over my left side and kind of hold it in place with my arm. No problems at all with the mask moving, etc.. Then again, I guess that *I* am not moving either, that I know of.

I use the Aussie heated hose and don't have any rain out issues. I did unplug the hose for a few nights because the house itself was stuff and breathing in warmed air was making me feel even warmer.

While I can tell that everything is on and working right when I am falling asleep, I do tend to wake up in the morning wondering when I took it off only to find out that it is still on and working! To me, that is a total seal of approval if I can't even tell I've got the darn thing strapped on AND air is blowing up my nose.

I use Padacheek's forehead cover so that takes care of any uncomfortable rubbing of the mask's pad on my hair. For me, however, I also have a cowlick right in the middle of my hairline so the I tend to wake up with a scary middle part in my bangs. But... since I take a daily shower every morning, this isn't a problem.
