Forgot to put my SmartCard in Last Night

Post by lpady » Mon Apr 30, 2007 9:58 am

OK - call me dumb. I forgot to put in my smartcard last night and went to read the data off this morning (since it seemed like a good night) and saw the card was still in the reader

I guess the machine records/reads the data off the card to control the APAP as well since there was no info on AHI/Leaks on the display. I wonder if it used APAP at all.

I did wash the mask (and my face) really well before going to bed and think that might have helped keep it in place last night, but have no way of knowing since I didn't record my leak rate

Oh well, hopefully I won't do that again... At least I can't obsess over my numbers today!

Linda

I'll bet that you only do that ONCE.
Happened to me a couple months into my therapy and I then came up with a routine to prevent it from happening again.

Your machine ran the same as it did the night before.....just didn't have a chance to record the data.....it's gone forever.

Now you know what the folks who have non-recording machines go through.....wondering how their therapy is really working......EVERY night.

On the M series, I think they call that missing data a feature
someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

Den,

Yeah, that's what it would have been like if they had given me the machine they wanted to. I'm too much of a control freak to be able to blindly follow ... You bet - it'll be a while before I forget again (hopefully never!!!)

Rooster --

Ah, if only I could allow myself to do that. My curiosity (obsession???) overtakes my superstition every time...

When I remove my smartcard, I turn the machine 45 degrees, so when I goto bed if the machine isn't in the correct position it reminds me to goto the cave and retrieve the card. Us old folks have to do it that way. Jim

Heck, if they were THAT smart they would actually work 100% of the time when you plugged them in.

Hey, I like the idea of turning the machine sideways! I may do something similar. I've forgotten it too. Only I'm an overachiever...I've done it twice.

The first time I left it in the reader, the second time I tossed it into the bag with the machine and didn't insert it into the slot. I think it's a requirement to forget at least once.

Oh...and by "tossing into the bag" I keep my machine in a new luggage-type cat carrier bag. Someone on here (sorry, can't remember who to credit) suggested it to keep my cats from turning my machine off at night by sitting on it. Works like a charm! It's roomy and has mesh walls for ventilation.

And again my stupid smartcard let me down. I forgot again last night. Go to check out my progress on the 3rd and, to me, most successful night yet with the optilife mask and have an empty card slot. I need to turn the machine or something as suggested above.
