stopped up

Post by vicchap1 » Wed Apr 25, 2007 8:34 pm

First, thanks to everyone on this site. Being able to talk to other is a great help dealing with this new adventure.

I have been using cpap for 17 days. Seem that I have notice that my nose stops up halfway thru the night causing me to wake and be un-comfortable. If I lay on my right side, the right nostril will stop up making it hard to breath. This could be due to allergies. Sitting here now, I am 35% stopped up and seem that CPAP makes it worse.
Anyone have any ideas or sugestions?
Thanks in advance.

My nose has been clogging up the last few nights. I turned my HH up a notch and now it's fine. Maybe try turning the HH up.

This year has been awful for people with allergies. Even those who normally don't have much problem at all are really suffering. It might be allergies as you say. You might try a nasal spray called Nasal Chrom. It can be used daily (in fact, should be, several times a day unfortunately), with no fear of rebound congestion. It is an antihistamine, not a decongestant. Another possibility is to use a nasal wash or a neti pot to flush the sinuses

If you do a search here on the term 'nasal wash' or 'nasal rinse' you should find a lot of information.

I use a prescription steriod nasal spray. Nasacort and Flonase are two brands. You should check with your doctor and see what he/she advises. Just my $.02
