Question on EncorePro, smartcards, and my DME

Post by JohnK » Tue Apr 24, 2007 7:39 am

OK, I convinced my doctor and DME to hook me up with a Respironics M Series AutoPAP for a 2 week trial. They are going to review the data from my card after 2 weeks. Since I don't trust anyone else, I ordered my own smart card reader and copy of EncorePro which should arrive today.

My question is - am I able to download the data off the card to review it myself without affecting my DME's ability to download the data as well? From what I've read it looks like this is possible, but I just wanted to make certain. Are there any special options, tricks, settings, etc that I need to make sure I do to leave the data on there for the DME to retrieve?

Thanks!!

The data will be erased from the card by the Encore Pro software unless you instruct it to "prompt...". There is a "Preferences" button at the top right area of the main screen (from memory - it may be elsewhere). BEFORE you insert your SmartCard, go to Preferences and click the checkbox to "prompt before erasing..." or some such verbiage.

I may try the "trial period" for an APAP unit on my sleep doc - good idea!

I guess the next question is if I leave the data on the card will Encore Pro get confused and import the same data twice? i.e. - if I check Tuesday night's data on Wednesday, then download Wednesday night's data on Thursday, will it import Tuesday night's data again?

Thanks again for the info!

Hi John,
The only penalty of having twice seen info. stored on the card is that it will show up on the report if you let it. If you choose date range on the report you can decline to look at the old information. I look at my info. every Sunday afternoon and only sometimes decide to wipe the cards mind.
