Lowering the max?

Post by Moon » Fri Apr 20, 2007 9:55 am

I was told that the max setting on my APAP should be as low as the last highest pressure, from my last download or a least a couple cm higher. Would anyone know why? (in simple terms) I was told this will help with reaction times... I'm not the smartest, but this is an auto-CPAP...

Doesn't make sense to me.
The "response/reaction time" would be faster if your MINIMUM setting would be higher. Where you would set that, depends on several factors. I'm also of the "school of thought" that believes in limiting the upper pressure in many cases.....mostly to prevent the machines from disturbing sleep, such as in the cases of "snore chasing"......where the person has a propensity to snore without other "events" taking place.

Best wishes,

I certainly cannot tell you why. However, when I first got my machine, it was set 6 to 20 cm. When I changed it to 6 to 14 cm, my numbers went down, and the pressure only hit 14 briefly on three different occasions since 1/30/07. (I have raised the low pressure slightly, to 6.4, since, and will likely make some more changes in the future.)

Thanks for your responce, I guess there is some merit to lowering the max. pressure then.

I set my max pressure to my titrated pressure.
