That's only $14 cheaper than cpap.com for a new one with a 2 year warranty. You might have to do better than $500, but you might get lucky if someone without a prescription needs one.

Mike,
What makes you think you need an "Auto" to do this therapy?
You've got a good machine already. If you don't have the software and card reader.....I would advise getting it......it'll tell you what you need to know about your therapy.
Save your coins and then buy one for a second/backup machine.

And, DON'T get an auto unless your doc clears you for one. There ARE some serious contraindications for the use of an auto. Please.

Yeah, I understand about the "toys" issue.....mth712 wrote:P.S.- I also wake up with stomache cramped and bloated and thought the auto might help me to not suck air in my belly.
So far 7 day average(only used 4 nights and 3 sessions) it reads AHI 1.9 and leak 29.6.
I COULD have purchased an Auto at the beginning, but I was reading on the forum that the Autos had a tendency to chase snoring.....and I KNEW I snored alot......so I went with the Pro 2 and software.....to see how I did with this therapy before venturing into the Auto category. It was a year before I purchased my first Auto and found out the snore-chasing was true, plus the pressure changes disrupted my sleep. I came to discover with the Auto that I had been "right on the money" with my pressure, anyway. So, all three of mine are set at a single pressure of 12.....Ho hum.
What are your settings?.....pressure, C-Flex, etc.
As far as the aerophagia.....some people have had improvements by changing settings/turning off C-Flex.

Mike,
Just because you have aerophagia right now, doesn't mean you need an auto CPAP or a change in pressure. Give it a little time. A lot of people get aerophagia in the beginning. I did and so did my sister. I began my treatment with a CPAP and did get over the aerophagia before I had to go to an APAP. I just had to get adjusted to the pressure. I was originally set at 14 and went to 16. My sister was put on a BiPAP because her heart did funky things when they tried to titrate her on a straight CPAP. Anyway, it took her getting used to her pressures, but once she did she didn't have the problem anymore. Neither of us messed with our pressures. If it doesn't get better after a couple of weeks, then talk to your dr. and see what he says.
For me, a CPAP didn't work. I tried that for awhile in the beginning and my dr. even increased the pressure. When I still had problems, we next moved on to an APAP. I have mine set at my prescribed pressure of 14 up to 17. For me this works well.
I can understand wanting an APAP because of its capabilities. You might want to keep the one you have and save up for an APAP as a backup machine. I now have two APAPs (both P&B 420e), so I have a backup in case one fails. Also, some people DON'T do well on an APAP so before venturing into that area get your therapy under control. Getting and using the software is a great idea. Once you are feeling GREAT and have your numbers under control you might change your mind and decide to stay with the machine you have. If not, you will at least be in tune with how you are doing so if you get an APAP you can stay on top of some issues that can arise.

That's when an Auto (APAP) raises its pressure to stop a person's snoring. It's believed that snoring is a possible precursor to an event (Flow Limitation, Hypopnea or Apnea) and in some cases they will keep on raising the pressure until either the snoring stops or the upper pressure limit is reached.....even if we're not having any apnea or hypopnea events. In many/most (?) cases, snoring is just "sound effects", so this should be a consideration for those of us who snore in how we configure our Auto machines.queenwizard wrote:What is Snore-Chasing???
In MY case, at a fixed pressure of 10, I can still snore with the best of 'em but my AHI is quite low, at less than 1.0. I found out that by increasing my pressure to 11 or 12, I still have a low AHI of 1.0 or less, but my snoring is almost non-existent. I also found out that there were events that my Auto couldn't eliminate as it was changing pressures, and I actually had a higher AHI in Auto mode. So, I found my compromise pressure that yielded low numbers in both categories.
It's been reported that Apnea and Hypopnea detection is suspended during a Large Leak....but I can assure you that Snore detection is NOT suspended.
