I have a question. They say the normal average adult should sleep at least 8 hrs but I very seldom sleep that much.
I normally sleep between 5.5 and 6.5. Is that truly not enough, medically?
How mcuh sleep is sufficient?
I usually sleep about 6 hours. Since using the pur-sleep I sleep about 8 hours, unless the alarm wakes me.

I am 58. My sleep doc told me to sleep 8 to 9 hours each night. I try to be in bed with the lights out 8 hours before the alarm clock is set to awaken me. On many days I am in bed 9 hours before the alarm is set.
I am in my 16th month of cpap therapy. I had bad insomnia for much of this time. Recently I instituted a strict sleep hygiene routine and for the first time in years I am now sleeping 8 to 9 hours per night. I will awaken once or twice during the night but I can fall back asleep quickly.

Before the "machine period" of my life, I'd sleep from 5 to 7 hours a night. Now I find myself sleeping 8 to 10!

I never feel good the next day if I have slept less than 8 hours, even with a low AHI. With 8 or more hours sleep and a low AHI, I feel better than I have in years.

Thanks to all of your responses. I just last week raised my pressure from 9 to 9.8 and actually slept for almost 8 hrs which is very abnormal for me. I guess it's a good thing then and not only did I start getting more sleep over the lawst few days, but lower my numbers are lower making me feel better during the day.
It's a lot to get used to but CPAP is worth it!
