apnea and body hair

Post by selims » Fri Apr 06, 2007 11:49 am

Ok, I know that this is a strange one but did any of you notice an increase in body hair after you were treated for apnea? I am 39 and I feel like I am going through puberty again. Is it just me, if not how common is it and what causes it (I don't think it is caused by the full moon , but it is just as weird)?

Do you have a couple of puncture marks on your neck?

It's not rocket science , you're getting better O2 uptake, which leads to better all around health, and delivery of 02 to all kinds of places like your scalp. My hair was thinning over the past few yrs and I just put it down to hormones, but has levelled off and even come back a little recently (been on Cpap for almost 2 yrs).

I was referring to body hair and not head hair .... I haven't noticed any change in the rate of my receding hairline, just body fuzz. I don't think that there will be much a waiting line for that side effect

selims,
You didn't say if you were male or female. I'm female, and I haven't had this experience. However, since being a person of size is a risk factor for OSA as well as a risk factor for PCOS, if you are a person of size (and female) I'd ask your doctor to check for PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). Women that have it frequently develop more body hair (hirsutism). It's a common side effect of the syndrome. Good luck.
