G'Day: (That's from EC IL) I've been listening to those from "Down Under"

I, except for last night, 1st nigh with "Fresh", used 4 drops and slept like a baby, usually use the three mix cocktail and am up to 6-8 drops. I must say that my first weeks usage was only 1 to 2 drops. Enjoyed it so much had to increase it and I am also room fragrance intolerant w/allergy induced asthma but these EO's have not effected me one bit with my breathing and has not effected the readout on my machine, my AI's are still below 0.4.

After a study of nightly use, I have determined that the EO's are cosmetic. When I got up yesterday my wife told me I sure was getting prettier

I was one of the lucky ones, got my 2nd order before Pur-Sleep suspended shipments. Should have enough to get me through until back in business.

Good Luck, tonight DSM

Sure wish there was a way to edit posts, I'm getting of tired of having to claim a "guest" post.

Watermellon and Milk (aka sandia con leche)

Post by SleepGuy » Fri Apr 06, 2007 2:05 pm

DSM, I think you deserve an award for this thread--a cpaptalk Tony or something like that.

**************

I lived in Paraguay (South America) for 2 years back in the 1980s (doing church-related work).

Every single Paraguayan, to a person, believes that the combination of watermellon and milk is toxic--somehow it turns into a deadly poison. I've had scores of Paraguayans affirm from first hand experience that they knew someone who died from this (or became extremely ill and almost died)--neighbors,cousin, uncle, teacher's son, wedding party guest.

A favorite passtime was to mention to people, casually, that we were going back home for lunch (or dinner) to eat watermellon and milk . . . and then watch their reaction: the shock, amazement, begging, pleading, the horror stories, "don't you know what that will do??!!!", trying to save me from certain death and bodily harm. Twenty years later I'm still amused by all of that (but not in a mean-spirited or condescending way at all (I'm very fond of the Paraguayans)).

I don't usually respond to "farewell cruel forum" posts on principal but I couldn't bear to think of you meeting your (well scented) fate tonight before I'd had a chance to tell you how much I appreciated your website. I love to see what's inside machines and your photos made it unnecessary (almost) for me to open up my own. Your posted descriptions helped me understand what I was seeing when I did. Wait, that's right. I never did that. Of course I didn't. I don't know how I got that set of Torx screwdrivers.

I do hope you've left sufficient funds to keep your website running just in case!

Selfishly yours,
Midnightowl

PS. Your use of the word mouse has left me with some very disturbing images. I'd never before considered the similarity between the CPAP hose and a habitrail. It may be hard to get to sleep tonight. (see http://www.habitrail.com/ if habitrail was never an Australian vice)

Well folks - that Pur-sleep is a WINNER !

The smell was not too strong, I had a great nights sleep (feel very rested).

I can't claim it is due entirely to the Pur-sleep but last night was what I classify as a great nights rested sleep.

The oil scent was something like using a very mild menthol.

I placed the device at the mask end of the hose (my PB330 has an internal pressure line). Never noticed it - it made no difference to the hose.

No added noise & just from looking at it I could tell there would ne no interference with the airflow & air movement, that in any way is worse that the difference between one brand of mask and another (I am certain that the Pur-sleep diffuser would have less impact on the air patterns through the air circuit than any mask).

So, I actually intend using it again, perhaps one scent only next time.

Also I will try it with a Remstar & Resmed Auto (not that I can see it having the slightest negative effect).

So, my verdict is this is a very well thought out device that I think many people will get good results from.

Cheers]

Interesting coincidence. I am back home in rural North Carolina today and was having lunch out with my family including my 89-year old mother. I had a fried flounder plate for lunch, followed up by a banana split (Well, sleep apnea will shorten my life span, so I might as well enjoy food while I can), so up comes the subject of dangerous combinations of food. We all remembered from our youth when we believed eating ice cream and watermelon at the same setting would make you ill. So I guess I am alive today thanks to some Paraguayan knowledge that made its way to rural North Carolina decades ago.

BTW, I just stepped down a few minutes ago from my weight room. Dead lifts, straight-legged deadlifts, and bench presses should have taken care of the fried fish and banana split. Eh?

Rooster, What part of NC ? - I spent a few weeks there some years back (writing a computer 'redbook' for IBM at Cary).

Spent all my spare time driving around NC - got to Salem & also had a great trip to the outter banks up to Elizabeth & back to Raleigh.

Was amazed at how empty that state is of people also never saw so many tobacco plants in my life before. One highlight of my drive to the Outter banks was doing a flight out of Kitty Hawk in a cessna. That was a real buzz

dsm,

I still use my house in Charlotte. Today I was in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains. Down east where you spent some time has some large tracts of low density population. Charlotte is growing tremendously fast and looks to become unpleasant for us natives who do not like congestion.

If you ever get to the western part of the state, I always take far off visitors to Grandfather Mountain.

Regards,

Slinky,

You can have any Goodknight 420E units I have (but I never actually owned one so I can't deliver on this )

Have had or do have

Puritan Bennett ...
>PB420S
>PB330 Knightstar Bilevel
>PBCloudNine Auto (a vary rare collectors item powered by the original ex vaccume cleaner motor used in aqll early PB machines )
>PB318 (same motor as the CloudNine)

I'd give you the PB318 for nix except it is a health hazard - stinks of smoke - am convinced it was retrieved from a burning house - it was sold to me for $ 10 by a horse farm somewhere in Calif - I bought it to pull apart - I can swear that all the Pur-sleep scent in the world would not block the fire smell from this unit.

Aha! - good point but remember that SleepGuy sent me oil from the USA & to the best of my expert knowledge it was still swirling in the right direction when I delicately dropped drips on the mouse.

So I contend the results hold good for the US

A “Real” man would use 100% Pure Unadulterated Tennessee Whiskey! Or NASCAR fuel….

Which reminds me. You may be a Red Neck if you mow you back yard and find a car.
