Hi! I haven't been here for a long time. I've logged over 4,000 miles (uh, hours) on my bi-pap.....am compliant, for sure.
Problem is that the last two ultra mirage nasal masks have become unuseable for the same reason. It is the only mask I have been able to wear, so it is important to me to find out what I can do. There is a plastic, curved piece that clicks onto the piece that connects to the hose. It pops off and when I put it back on, it is too loose to stay. I tried to use a rubber band on it, but then it was too tight. It's purpose is to let exhaled air escape. It doesn't work without it and it keeps popping off. Any ideas? Thanks.
Piece of mask pops off.....

Sharon, there's a very specific way you have to put it on there. If you don't turn it just the right way when putting it back on, it will pop off. When you've got it on the right way, it will "click" into place. It's not defective - just keep working at it. A look at the user manual might help (but probably won't! ) I used that mask for months, and I still have to keep turning it til I get it right. Good luck.
if you still have the bag it came in, there may be a spare cap in the bag, I know they used to include a spare. If you have to buy one, a replacement of that $.10 cent piece from Resmed will now probably cost you like $40 bucks
I seen where they charge up to $20 bucks for those quick release clips on the headgear.
Actually it is only $8.99 from cpap.com, but with shipping?

On your next mask purchase, you should try the Soyala nasal mask, it won't have that problem and will run circles around that UltraMirage and be a whole lot quieter. The Soyala cushion seems to run a tad smaller than the UM sizing. So if your UM is on the verge of being too small get the next larger size in the Soyala.
