I am sick with a bad cold...

Post by adolson » Fri Mar 30, 2007 9:04 pm

Hello,

I have been sick with what I thought was a pretty bad cold. It stared with mild congestion, about 2 weeks ago. It got worse about 1 week ago, and I thought it was going away yesterday but today it was worse... I'm coughing up light green or yellow phlegm, my throat feels like it's been stabbed, and my head hurts when I cough too much. I've been trying to take care of myself, drinking a lot of fluids, etc. but I'm not getting better yet.

Anyhow, I will probably see a doctor tomorrow. But tonight, what should I do? Should I turn off my humidity? Do you think it could be caused by CPAP? Or my Mirage Swift nasal pillows? I don't think whatever I have is contagious because my wife isn't sick, just me.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

My opinion is that cpap therapy can cause cold-like illness when therapy is new. Your body is not accustomed to having air blown up your nose, into your sinuses, eyes, and ear canals.

You obviously have an infection. Either a bronchial or sinus infection. See a doctor ASAP.

At this point, do whatever makes you feel better.

Your symptoms are indications of possible bacterial infection requiring antibiotics, so see that doctor.
