Humidifier

Post by ChainSaw » Mon Mar 19, 2007 11:43 am

Am I the only one using CPAP that has no humidifier? My doctor, also a CPAP user didn't prescribe it. I thing i am not having problems but wonder if a humidifier adds to the comfort of the treatment.
I might add that I sleep in a room that sometimes is below freezing. I kind of dread my first summer coming on. I seem to think the humidified air would seem cooler in summer.
I'd appreciate the knowledge of your experience.

It can make XPAP treatment more comfortable, and is a necessary option.
The fact that your Dr. uses XPAP and doesn't give you that option, tells us a lot about him.

I'd to a lot of reading up on your treatment here, I think you will find it useful to know what's going on with apnea. Jim

Hi ChainSaw,
I would definitly ask for a humidifier, then you have the option to use it or not, Don't know why Dr. would give you one without the humidifier. Unless its a profit thing, which is rare.

This isn't by any chance Georgia as in next to Russia ? Didn't think the Georgia in US got that cold indoors. Might have to insulate that humidifier if you get one.

I went without one for years. Only recently got one due to nasal surgery that the doc said I needed to add humidity to my CPAP treatment. I can't tell a lot of difference to be honest about it.

Thanks for all the feedback. Actually I live in New Mexico at 7200 feet. I've always needed to sleep where it is cool. I can control my bedroom temperature by leaving the door ajar. The rest of the house is heated.
I'm calling my doctor this morning.
