Good Stats but not feeling refreshed

Post by u4ea » Sun Mar 18, 2007 11:48 am

Hello again all!

I have a question. I still don't feel refreshed like I should when

I get up in the morning. Does anybody have any suggestions about

how to feel more rested?

Details:

My Average AHI in the last 7 days is 0.5
average OAI is 0.2
and average HI is 0.3

At least things are slowly going in the right direction.

I am still using lunesta or ambien to get drowsy before I go to bed.

I cut my 10 mg ambien pills in half so I am only using 5mg and I quit using

trazodone completely! My eyes are not as dry in the morning and I was able

to stop using artificial tears. I am 100% compliant and using my Auto Bipap

EVERY night now.

I still don't feel as refreshed as I should be. I feel like I could use a

nap 2 to 3 hours after I get up.

Any and all suggestions are welcome!

Thanks to you all for your wonderful help!

Dana

It can take over 6 month to make up for the being run down by apnea, that's is being fully compliant all sleeping hours.

Also the sleeping pills could have a effect, despite the ads, we all know they aren't good for you. If you go off, cut the pills again in half, back off slowly. Jim Nice numbers BTW.

Thanks Jim!

I am trying to ween myself off of the scripts! During the last month
I have quit Prilosec and Trazodone and have cut my Ambien in half.
I would cut the Lunesta in half but the pills are too small! I appreciate
your advice. I will be patient for at least another six months!
But, I am just wondering how one would tell if they are not
getting enough oxygen during the night?

Thanks again!

Hi Zorro!

There is a massive improvement here also! Before I got the Auto Bipap
to work for me, I was feeling hopeless! It's better now but like you said
still no where near how I used to feel before OSA!

Thanks again!

I'd get rid of the ambien and lunesta and try melatonin. The fewer prescription drugs you take the better off you will be.

Thanks for the reply Snoredog!

I don't remember if I asked you before, what brand of melatonin do you use? I will try it...

Thanks again!

Dana

You could get your Dr. to set up a overnight O2 test with a recording device. Jim

Or even a overnight monitor for your heart, just to cover the bases.

Could total apnea duration give an indication of low 02? I was kinda wondering about this, because some days my AHI's are less than 3 but my total apnea duration is 3 or 4 minutes. On these days I seem to 'run out of gas' in the late morning or afternoon. Would this be a possibility?
