Goodness, I'm glad I found this place. The few postings I've already read have been incredibly helpful.
Here's my story in brevity: Did a sleep study about 3 years ago. Of course it was determined that I had sleep apnea...59 events per hour. I tried the CPAP and I just couldn't make it work. My ENT Dr. told me to try for 6 weeks, keep a journal of what happened and if it didn't work he would do surgery. After 6 weeks of trying (4 different kinds of masks and multiple settings) we scheduled a date for surgery. The surgery was Somnoplasty Turbinates, Somnoplasty Base-of-the-Tongue, and Tonsilectomy (sp).
Fast foward 2.5 years - I took another sleep study about 1 month ago and, sure enough, I've got sleep apnea with a similar number of events. So I am now on week two of my new CPAP machine.
The first mask, nose only, was a complete bust. Now, however, I am using a full-face mask and this seems to be working. I have been on the full-face mask for one week and it appears as though this is going to work for me. I didn't try the full-face mask before. Frankly, I was not a good patient in my first go-around. I wanted surgery to correct the problem....it didn't....so now I'm going to be a bit more amendable to alternative procedures.
So....my big question.....when will I start feeling this new rush of energy that has evaded me? So far I'm still pretty sleepy during the day.
Thanks,
HB

Harry,
Welcome to the forum!
Don't get too impatient. The recovery process is different for all of us......partially depending on how long you've had it and how it's affected your body. Take it as it comes.
My daytime sleepiness went away fairly soon, but some of it has been an ongoing process.
Best wishes,
Den
