Apneapedia?

Post by jskinner » Tue Mar 13, 2007 10:12 pm

I have been part of this forum for over six months now. The amount and quality of information as well as the supportive nature of the group always amazes me. However I do see the same questions being answered time and time again. I'm wondering if creating a Apneapedia might not be useful? It seems like we could all contribute to organized collection of information on CPAP and its use. Also we could point users with common questions to the Apneapedia article.

On the other hand the personal aspect of having real people respond each time to each question is also nice... I'm sure both could coexist and provide a valuable service?

Isn't that what the yellow light bulb is for?

Normally, I would say that is a great idea, but NOT on this board, the existing CPAPopedia in place here seems to ONLY be for use by the Spammers to perform their magic using the bot XRumer:

Snoredog what do you mean.

There use to be a definition section, which I used often and wish it was back.

Click on the light bulb - click on Get started treating SA - click on SA definitions(under absolute basics).

Yes the light bulb section is great but its not as powerful as a wiki.

Why would someone use that spammer site? I can see why people do it to sell things but when someone just posts a bunch of nothing is it just to be a pest? it seems like a lot of energy just to be annoying. Also, does the fact that there was a spammer posting a bunch of stuff a couple of days ago have anything to do with me not being able to stay logged in? sorry for being so lame about computer stuff....just curious...nothing to do with the original post.

James,

While I understand what you mean, someone will STILL ALWAYS ask. I know by now that if I have a question, I will either go to the lightbulb OR go to the SEARCH box first and enter some keywords. It is amazing how often the same question or topic gets brought up over and over, sometimes within the same week or even days! If I do not see any info that I'm looking for, then I will post or maybe just PM someone. I'll usually encourage a newer poster to try those options first but inevitably someone else will ask the same question 2 hours later! lol
Oh well, there is always someone out there to help (which is wonderful!) so I guess for some it's just easier to post rather than search.

Mary

This site has been invaluable to me. I am a newcomer and most of the posters seem to be. I suspect that when I have had all my questions answered I won't come here as often. The basic questions and the answers posted by those it the know will be pretty much the same and essential to those just getting started.
Maybe someone could start an advanced site, although I suspect the QandA would be relatively the same.
