Selling CPAP machines on eBay

Post by rgelston » Sat Mar 10, 2007 12:34 pm

I was once called a spammer for posting my GoodKnight 420G for sale here, and was told to go flog it on eBay. However, I don't think eBay allows the sale of CPAP machines. All I have ever seen on there are masks, accessories and manuals.

Anyone here have the straight skinny on this? And if not eBay or here, where can one sell a used machine?

sell them on Yahoo Auctions or Craig's List, Check them out on Google. Jim

This site is sponsored by CPAP.Com, It's not fair to them to just use them to sell products against them.

I don't just use this site to post spam - my 420G post was the first and last, although I have seen other people post stuff for sale here, so I've never been able to figure out the rule about it.

Probably my problem is that I not a regular here, since I don't post unless I have a specific contribution to make or problem to solve.

And I originally bought the 420G package from - CPAP.com.

Good for you, I also got my Remstar APAP from them, they treat us right, so we try to do the same. I don't think there's a set rule, Cpap.com is nice about that too. It's just that we don't want the place to get the REP of being a dumping ground. Some people would try that if they weren't told, I've used Yahoo Auction sucessfully too. Jim

You might fill in your profile, and join in a little. Let us know you pressure and how Cpap is doing for you.

rgelston,

Obviously, we can't speak for the forum admins, but I don't think that MOST of us have a "problem" with people offering an occasional machine or mask for sale here. In MY opinion, it helps out others that are looking for a lower cost first machine or a backup machine.
Here's a link to one that was recently offered for sale (and sold) here:

That should have been my machine!

Virtually the same ad (low hours, almost exactly the same except I have the humidifier too) but some member deleted it as spam! I felt less like posting here after that.

Well, by all means, do what you want to do. Yahoo Auctions, Craigslist, another post here, it's up to you.

If it was deleted as spam, maybe the spam deleter got his button removed.

Mine got removed for no reason at all, unless someone complained that all my spam buckets were overflowing on the floor.

Since they took my button, my dogs have lost ten pounds, they sure did enjoy that fried spam. Jim

Rgelston,

Even if you don't feel that you should post your machine here, you should monitor the forum on a regular basis. Lately there have been a couple of posts from people who want to buy a used machine.

You could PM those people to ask if they want to buy yours.

Is this the same machine you tried to sell last November?

Just to clarify about ebay.

I tried selling my Knightstar a year ago on ebay and my auction got yanked saying that I couldn't sell used medical machinery on ebay.

I can top that.

Ebay yanked my auction for the 10' hose I had - twice.

If www,craigslist.com is in your state or area, you can sell your sleep apnea equipment on their site. It costs nothing to sell. It is not like ebay, it would be sold locally and of course you have to watch for people that may not be honest. I have sold other items on it and it works great!

eBay doesn't allow the sale of machine because (I presume) it's regulated medical equipment - which is why one needs a prescription to get a machine here at CPAP.com.

Not sure why they'd axe hose auctions though, or any other supplies.

Ebay does not allow the sale of items that require a prescription. They usually don't remove the items unless someone reports it. The hose may have been pulled by accident, because I've seen them sold there many times.
