ResMed Data Card

Post by Lynmar » Fri Mar 09, 2007 12:03 pm

Hi. I've been using an apap for about a week now. I love the machine and nasal mask but hate the headstrap. Looking over the internet I see headstraps that I think would work better than than this single strap that keep winding up around my throat. javascript:emoticon('')
Shocked

I go back to my sleep doctor next Thursday and have to take my machine and mask. My question is what does my data card tell him? I know it says *when* I use the machine, but what else?

Thanks,

Lyn

Well, if your machine is the Resmed S8 Elite, Resmed S8 Vantage you can find out most of that information yourself via the Advanced Patient Menu.

Press the Left and Right buttons and hold for 3-4 seconds. Efficacy Data will show up on the LED screen. After that which button to press is pretty much self-evident, but to get you started: press the Left button. Since it is after 12 noon (these machines all run on a 24 hour, noon to noon, clock there will be no data for last night, but press the Left button again and you will find the averages for the last week for the Pressure, Leak rate, AHI, AI and HI "if" you have been using it 7 days or more. Press the Right button and you will exit the weekly data and be back to Efficacy Data, press the Down button and you will see the Usage Data menu on the LED screen. You can figure out the rest from there, I'm sure. And don't worry, you can't change any data by mistake in this menu.

I'm not sure about the other Resmed machines and their data. You need the software to see what other information is available to your doctor but to get an idea:

Hi Slinky. Thank you for the reply. This is what it said. (Autoset Vantage)

When I first started it 10.2; lk 0.20 L/s; AHI 10.0; AI 2.3; Hi 7.5. Used 73; Usage 10/10. I understand the used and usage ones.

Thanks,

Lyn

I'm not that experienced, just starting 5th month on xPAP therapy. There are others here much better qualified to comment on your stats. I assume you know that AHI is apnea/hypopnea index, AI is apnea index and HI is hypopnea index.

Hi Lyn,

The data card allows your doc to see what's happening during the night for the last five days in detail. The night profile will let him see where your apnoeas & hypopneas are occuring, and if they happen at the same time as leaks etc. Because they're on a time scale you can work out what's happening during the night to a more accurate degree. You can look at the Treatment Profile and see your trends over a certain time period. You can buy the software and card reader yourself, if you want to, you don't have to rely totally on your doc reading and analysing it for you.

Hi Peter, thank you. Guess I'd better be good for the next five nights since I see him Thursday. I'll let him tell me what I did for a while. He really seems to be on top of things right now. Thanks again, Lyn
