2i humidifer back leaking

when I get up and turn off my resmed VPAP III with 2i humidifer I disconnect the humidifer and water leaks out of the inlet. the water in the humidifer is usually almost all used up when I get up off the machine. Any one else experienceing this or is my unit defective I checked the gasket inside and it is well seated. Thanks
