Hello y'all - I just joined the waking.
Well, it's come to this. My first night I lasted 1/2 hour at pressure 8, and it hurt my ears, so I gave up in frustration.
Had the pressure adjusted to 7 and tried again - this time I got 3 good hours of sleep, and decided that was enough. Just very mild ear discomfort - but I have bad ear pain when I fly, so I'm sure there's a connection.
Tonight, I'll try again - it will be my third night.
How do you know when you have a leak (w/pillows) except for fogging of eyeglasses?
I'm so resistant, but don't want to have bad things happen.
For years, ocassionally I'd wake up and think I was going to die 'cause I couldn't breathe at all, and I'd struggle and finally eek in a tiny bit of air. Then, I'd forget about it (I can't believe that, 'cause I don't shirk things usually).
Finally had the tests and have moderately severe osa. I know a couple of men who LOVE their machines. I'm a small woman and don't share their passion.
But, I like living and am sick of wanting to go to bed at 6pm.
Thank you for listening and if you could send a few words of encouragement, I'd be grateful.
Thank you - Dee Astoria, OR
newbie trying to adjust - question about ear pain
Hi Dee and welcome. On a side note, I was born in Seaside - just down the coast from you.
Yes, hurting ears can be part of cpap therapy. I have to back off on my pressure too. Also, I run my heated humidifier on the lowest setting of 1. Just think of warm moist air blowing into your ears -- all the makings of a good ear infection. So dropping the pressure down 1 and lowering the humidity setting should help you.
Please complete your Profile (top center of the page) with your equipment, etc. You can also add your titrated pressure under comments.
Give us more info, and others can offer more suggestions. You came to the right place for help.
