Post by Rapunzel111 » Fri Feb 16, 2007 11:35 pm

Hey!!!That's a nice hose cover!!Good for you for being creative and making it yourself and I have deep admiration for you being as you said ''a big dude sewing''.Good job! The creativity and sewing of new hose covers every now and then may help you with your CPAP therapy by giving you a creative outlet by making more for yourself and maybe some for friends that have a machine too!

I am no good with a needle of any kind. So I paid Kathleen to make me a comfortsleeve. Love it!

So, how long did it take you to sew all the little black and white squares together? (JK)

Hey, this is Kathleen...GOOD FOR YOU!

The way you sort of twisted the squares also added to the effect.
Looks like you did an excellent job.

But I must tell you, I don't like competition ...(admitting I may have competition!)

Mine have been solid colors, because the patterns just don't come across too well,
but your choice of that pattern was EXCELLENT!

Hmmmmmmmmmm Wall-Mart, you say?

Good job!

By the way, Rosy Grear (sp) does tapestry needlepoint,
and I met another BIG guy in the store who does TATTING!,
and that is a very difficult undertaking which requires a LOT of dexterity.

You "big guys" are really sheep in wolves' clothing, eh? (but STILL Wolves)

Now, would you like for me to recommend a really fancy sewing machine for you?

Take care, and thanks for sharing that with us.

Kathleen

P.S. Your sewing area is too clean! I'm jealous.

whats this big dude doing sewing?
A "Big Dude" ex-marine (is there really such a thing?) Drill instructor, retired USMC, my dad, taught me to sew. I'm all for "Big Dudes" sewing! Keep going! You may well design some great new innovation! Good work!

I agree with the others about counting race cars, Great idea!

You're right, retired Marines are NOT "ex-Marines"!!!
I should know, I'm married to one , and I've also been 'educated', ! (and they aren't 'soldiers' either)...another thing I learned! (he's pretty touchy about that one, ha ha - you'll know why, and no offense meant to anyone, believe me)

Good for him, passing on that valuable knowledge to you.
...plus, it probably comes in handy when trying to impress a female, eh?

Semper Fi, Joey

My Dad was a great guy. He was a Marine back in the old days, WWII and before (he reinlisted originally enlisted in the late 20's when he was just a kid!). We burried him in his dress blues, always a Marine!

I forgot that this is a big board and you guys don't know me well, Joey is a knick name, a funny name for a girl! Sewing has not helped me much with "the girls" but, my husband has been delighted to have a wife that can make stuff. LOL! We are the DIY couple!

Ms Joey, my apologies! I saw the reference to 'big guy' and repeated it!
I see now that it's not in your post.

I like the name Joey, for either gender. You probably remember Joey Heatherton? Sounds like you may be "Daddy's Girl"?

I'm sorry that your father isn't around physically; mine isn't either, and I miss that. So now, that's a different dynamic: father teaching daugher to sew. I don't doubt that that's all he taught you!

Well,

Mom taught me well, I can sew, cook, crochet, etc. My hose cover still dident stand up to my 65degree bedroom I did get a lot of condensastion in the hose last night.

I also woke up with a tight feeling in my throat like a stick had been shoved down it, and my mustache is irritated. Anyway tonight is night two and we will see how it goes. I woke up three times last night and felt like I was being suffocated, weired how positive air pressure can do that.

you should make it out of some Western Diamondback Rattlesnake skin, just think what those would say if they seen that around your neck, just think if you went camping

Funny how often this sort of misinterpretation occurs. What was it that offerocker posted in a different thread? Ah, yes, I remember... offerocker wrote:

Funny thing... the nut does not fall far from the tree.
Buy a new hat, drink a good wine, treat yourself, and someone you love, to a new bauble, live while you are alive... you never know when the mid-town bus is going to have your name written across its front bumper!
