SRTIII CPAP machines

Post by threebrothers » Thu Feb 15, 2007 4:03 pm

I notice there is a new CPAP machine with a humidifier at very low price in the Australian market. I understand from the company's website that introduced this system (http://www.nosnore.com.au) that the new machine is as good as the ones available in the market. Has anyone purchased this machine to tell us about it?

I am not sure what the exchange rate is, but I don't think that is a stellar price, and think that you can beat it with a combo from an on-line outfit like cpap.com.

1. It's not for sale yet, according to the web site.

2. It's a low end entry. Low on features.

3. The software while extra $$$ is almost useless. Hours-Complance-Pressure only.

4. Pressure output is weak, 18 CM tops.

5. Go for a good one. Jim

Some quick comments

1) their web site: http://www.apexbrand.com/product02.aspx?nid=P_00000029

2) It is a Taiwanese company

3) They have been in the business for a while & previously had the SRP II models

4) The Australian pricing about right for a machine of its capability

5) The specs are mediocre

Basically, goofproof has summed it up pretty well

I think we need to be objective in our discussion.

Below is a table comparison of SRT III with ResMed, Fisher&Pykel and Respironics:

Frankly speaking, I can't find any major technical difference between the four. The pressures of 19 and 20 are required by only a few sufferers. I doubt that all CPAP users require the DC operation. The weight and size are comparable. With regard to warranty, the company is offerring 12 month return warranty, which is very good.

In my original posting I wanted to know if anyone has used the SRT III. I know it is not yet available in the US but it is already sold in Europe, and now in Australia.

Ok! I'll give you, that it's cheaper in Au, only if your figures are correct. however, it a cheaper, built low end machine, with half the warrenty and overpriced for the american market. If it were better, it could almost crawl it the level of a Remstar Plus, the bottom rung on the ladder, and it would still have half the warrenty and cost more. Jim

An SRT III is US$689 (AU$895)

From cpap.com,

A Respironics REMstar Plus C-Flex CPAP with humidifier is US$470.01

A Fisher & Paykel HC234 with built-in humidifier is US$368

A Fisher & Paykel HC604 with built-in humidifier is US$489

Shipping is going to be a fraction of the price difference, and these are well respected brands. Any DME anywhere knows about and probably carries replacement filters and parts for Respironics and Fisher & Paykel machines.

The Australian URL given provides almost no information about this machine, and the website appears to have been hastily thrown together, with oodles of vacant turf. The company website for this machine doesn't really abound in good information, either. I would also be inclined to wonder about a poster whose only two posts appear in this thread, if I tended to be suspicious. If this poster has other-than-commercial motives for being here, I apologize - but I don't expect that an apology will be needed.

It appears from the company website - http://www.apexbrand.com - that they started making CPAPs in 2003. Given the track record of Japanese, Korean, and Taiwanese technology companies, it's possible that these are (or will be in the future) decent machines. If they're really very good, though, the company might be well-advised to follow the lead of Korean automobile companies and offer warranties which exceed market standard to help gain a position in the market.
