hose stays wet????

Post by kkblake » Fri Mar 25, 2005 10:18 pm

After washing my equipment I hang the hoses over the shower door all day long but the hose never seems to completely dry. I swing it around to attempt to remove the droplets I see inside. Go to bed with it and it works fine for half the night, then I find I am breathing droplets of water and I have to get up and twirl the hose again to dry it out. Does anyone have this problem. I am using the Breeze system and a humidifier set on 3 or 4. How can I get rid of this moisture problem? kkblake

Try turning the humidifier down a bit

The hose is probably drying out, what you are experiencing is called rainout.

Couple of options.

a) Aussie Heated Hose - heats up a bit so condensation can't occur

b) hose cozy - helps a little

c) put hose under covers with you.

Deffiantly rainout. I had that until I made a hose cover out of fleece and have had no more problems with it.
As for drying your hose I find that hooking it up to my machine without the humidifier and running it for a few minutes the air going through it will dry it out just fine.

wet hose

To dry my hose and humidifier after washing, I hook them up to my CPAP with the humidifier empty and turned off, and I let it blow for an hour or so. Even on the days I haven't washed the hose, I hook it all back up and let it run for 10 or 15 minutes each morning to dry it all out so that I don't grow mold in the hose. You may also be getting rainout like others have suggested. But like you, I too have found that the hose doesn't dry out after wahing it if I just hang it to dry, even though I live in a desert.

Big heart, kkblake was saying that it works fine for half the night, that is a good indicator that it is rainout, and not water that was in the tube from washing.
