Oscar wont open since Mac update to Golden Gate

I use Oscar every night but since update on Mac to Golden Gate, it is non responsive. I have tried all the steps to fix it( per AI) but no luck.

Which version of OSCAR are you running? And is your Mac using Apple Silicon?

What happens when you start OSCAR? Are you getting an error message from the Mac or from OSCAR?

Using latest Oscar 2.01. Using Mac Silicon. Oscar not responding is message I get.

I have not seen a report like this before, but Golden Gate is new. Could you provide some diagnostic information to help us identify the problem:

1. A process sample while it's hung: Activity Monitor → select OSCAR20 → ⋯ → Sample Process (or Terminal: sample OSCAR20 10 -file ~/Desktop/oscar-sample.txt). This is the one item that will actually locate the hang.
2. ~/Documents/OSCAR20_Data/logs/debug.txt — shows how far startup got.
3. Any OSCAR20-* files in ~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/ (a crash report would determine whether it is related to a problem we saw earlier).
4. Whether a dialog or splash is visible when it's "not responding", and how long you waited.

If the files are large, just copy them to my Dropbox folder. Please include your forum name in the zip file name so I know who to respond to.

And, as a possible work-around, hold down the SHIFT key when you start OSCAR. That will force OSCAR to use the software graphics engine instead of the native engine, in case the problem is related to graphics.

After hours of trying to get Oscar to open,(I used prompts from A1, as well as your tips), I Safe Mode to get it to open. Thanks so much.

Oscar Graphs no longer shown since latest Golden Gate MAC update. Will there be a fix for this issue?

We have not seen any reports of this problem before.

Are the graphs completely missing, or are they showing up but saying there is no data to plot? Please post a screen shot of the Daily page showing the missing graphs.

Also, please create a zip of the diagnostic logs: OSCAR > Help > Troubleshooting > Create zip of diagnostic logs and copy it to my Dropbox folder. Please include your forum name in the zip file name so I know who to respond to.

Please try the latest OSCAR beta -- 2.1.0-beta-2 -- at https://www.sleepfiles.com/OSCAR/index-beta.html. An Apple Silicon version is available. Let me know if this works any better.

Hi Guy,
I downloaded beta version , and got it to open, then it said" cannot find data for Oscar 2O. I located the files, and clicked to copy files and suddenly" not responding". I downloaded new copy of beta, put old in trash and now wont open "not responding" message.

I have a lot of data files, since I have used this software since 2014, nightly.

I am determined to get it open again.

Another developer has reported that OSCAR works as expected on MacOS Golden Gate, so we need to figure out what is different for you.

Before you updated to Golden Gate, exactly which version of OSCAR were you using? Was it OSCAR 2.x or 1.7.x? Were you using the Intel build of OSCAR or the Apple Silicon build, and which are you using now?

Deleting the OSCAR 2 executable and downloading it again should have no effect on how OSCAR starts as deleting the executable does not delete or damage any OSCAR 2 data files that have been created.

For safety's sake, I recommend you make a backup of your data files.

I am so frustrated. I updated Oscar and then found that it took hours and hours to download my multiple thousands of old data. After 5 hours, I gave up and stopped the download. Personally, I dont need to access or keep my old data.

Kindly, help me start anew.

I compulsively check Oscar every morning. That is my goal. Again, I have no need to maintain records of data at all!

Addendum : I upgraded to Oscar 2, so was using whatever software preceded it.

Try these steps. I will try to describe the expected results for each step. If something different happens, take a complete screenshot and post it for me to look at.

1. Start OSCAR 2.0.1. It should start and present you with the profiles page, which will probably not have any profiles shown.
1a. If it asks if you want to import profile data from 1.7.x, respond No.
2. Click on the New Profile button on the right side of the Profiles page.
2a. The Edit Profile dialog should appear.
3. Enter the name you want for the profile and any additional data you want to supply. Click on Finish when all data is entered.
3a. Your new profile should now be visible in the list of profiles.
4. Double-click on the new profile name.
5. Click on CPAP Importer and import data from your SD card.
5a. Import should run successfully and all data on the SD card should be placed in the profile
