Worn Out Res Med Air Curve 10 ST

Post by CARPENTER-MATE » Sun Nov 30, 2025 11:53 pm

Hi Gang

Happy Holidays!

I've had a Res Med Air Curve 10 ST (for five years). It had an early history of breaking down and was replaced twice. Unfortunately my coverage with Bay Care hasn't been the greatest. I'm posting a question with regard to Medicare's rules allowing a NEW CPAP-BIPAP machine every 5 years. Is that correct? If so, any tips regarding its replacement would be appreciated.

Thank You

My family doctor wrote a script specifying the machine model. He sent a letter saying I use and benefit from the machine, and a replacement is needed. This went to the DME who then ordered the machine. Make sure the DME has your Medicare and supplemental policy information.

It was all effortless for me.

DME stands for durable medical equipment - Correct?

Your comment was very encouraging!

Yes, and it's commonly used for durable medical equipment supplier.

"Make sure the DME has your Medicare and supplemental policy information" Do you also mean to say my doctor will have the ability to send a NEW script to Medicare (for a replacement machine)?

The script goes to the DME. The DME deals with Medicare.

Every five years, I've gotten a new machine with Medicare. You won't get one if you don't try.🙂
