Surge protection in Africa
Surge protection in Africa
I will be traveling to Zambia later this month and have a Z2 Auto Breas CPAP. The machine is rated for 110-240v input, but my RT said I should use a surge protector as well. The only surge protectors rated for 230v or above that I can find are big, industrial devices that aren't really practical for travel. I know the device will work with the local voltage, but does anyone have experience with using higher voltage surge protectors? And are they really necessary?

Re: Surge protection in Africa
Amazon lists plug adapters that have built in surge protection. Look at something like Ceptics World Travel Adapter. I have a Z1 I've used overseas without issue. The main thing is under no circumstances use a 120v surge protector with a 230V source.

I don't have one but have you considered the Breas PowerShell?

I would make sure there is a place to charge it where you will be. And make sure to use it at home so you know how long it will last. I saw a comment that said it will work for up to 4 days but how long will it take to charge after that? Also make sure to check directly with your airline, speak to someone or use their email, not a 2nd hand posting.
