My DME has been trying to supply me with a Dreamstation heated hoses manufactured by a third party (Sunset). The hose is stiffer than the Respironics brand hose which makes it uncomfortable as I move around. Medicare/Insurance are paying for supplies and I'm sure the off brand hose puts more money in the DME's pocket versus supplying OEM. I don't mind off brand supplies that work and don't affect comfort of use such as the Sunset filters they supply, but an uncomfortable hose affects how I sleep. I've talked to the DME and they said they'll correct the supplied hose on my supply list, but it's not happened yet.
Can/will a doctor write a prescript for a specific hose (or any other supply item) that the DME will have to abide by?
Written Prescript for Specific Supplies?

Re: Written Prescript for Specific Supplies?
They can and will but have to be reminded to check the little box that says "dispense as written".
They can specify brand and model name for anything and if that little RX box for "dispense as written" has a check mark in it then the DME can't substitute.
Remember all these folks work for you....not the other way around. If they don't want to or aren't willing to supply you with what YOU want then find someone that will that works with your insurance if you are filing insurance.
